Just the 2 of us ... 33 kilos of nearly sea pollution! Weirdest things: raw burgers, rosary beads and a hurley stick! Way too much plastic, cans and toys tonight! All bins full so not possible to do recycling. The clothes and toys are in the shower hut...claim them quickly 💚🌊🐳

Heartbreaking hearing that since the pandemic,illegal gold miners & loggers are using #COVID19 to increase illegal activity in the #Amazon. Official figures showed deforestation has increased by more than 60% compared to April last year @FFFireland @Fridays4future @GretaThunberg

@JMcG_1 At least it’s an attempt of democratic decision making and student voice, the results also are quite similar to the parents survey that was completed. Use of school email addresses was effective as no one has multiple school emails. Would be interesting to see a teachers survey!

@ciarakellydoc @kerrymgordon As leaving cert students, all we want to do is progress to college. We want to move on and start the next chapter of our lives. The uncertainty and ramifications of postponement are very unhelpful #LeavingCert2020

There is also the other issue of the different style of projects eg history is an essay worked on for months where geography is a field study written over a couple of weeks. They could follow the experimental marking of the politics project that’s online

@JMcG_1 @peter_lydon @cmcging I have been calling for a debate the whole time! It’s important to get all different opinions and it’s interesting hearing and seeing what teachers believe is best. Regardless of opinions, the decision has been made and we need to work towards July/August the best we can

@peter_lydon @JMcG_1 @cmcging The whole message throughout this pandemic is that we work together. The only way we can get through it is together. This is not an “us and them” situation. The tone of your tweet is the complete opposite what the Taoiseach has been saying #LeavingCert2020

@peter_lydon @JMcG_1 @cmcging For example the expert Aine Hyland was given a lot of time on RTE sayinh she wanted the leaving cert to go ahead. She even said "We need to make the leaving certificate go ahead even though it will widen the gap between the haves and the have nots" #LeavingCert2020 (2/2)

Also extremely disappointing to see that students had to take it into our own hands to get our voices heard when the decision affects us the most. Were teachers consulted?

But when we do get engaged, we are told we don’t know what we are talking about. 49% of 47,000 students said we wanted predicted grades. Brexit went ahead on a lower %

@JMcG_1 @cmcging Teachers must step out of their comfort zone and adapt the needs of students during this global pandemic.
Postponing these exams has further perpetuated the situation for vulnerable people. THIS has increased the advantage and privilege you say other students have (2/2) #Lc2020

@JMcG_1 @cmcging These are extraordinary times. We need to snap out of is this mentality that the Leaving Cert is the only and best way of education. How are multiple countries across Europe able to adapting to this new form of asessment if it’s unfair and biased? (1/2) #LeavingCertificate

@JMcG_1 @cmcging 49% of 46,000 students felt as though predicted grades were the best and fairest option. We have been taking house exams, tests, essays, mock exams and projects, there is enough data for teachers to provide an accurate result. It would have been a better option than postponement

@ciarakellydoc Such a shame considering how many students were in support of predicted grades on your show today. The students opinions and welfare were not at the forefront of this decision. We have not been listened too this whole time #LeavingCert

@McHughJoeTD We the 60k #LeavingCert students are disappointed, distraught 8 disheartened. You did not listened to us and what we wanted. Instead you pursued your own ideas of keeping tradition. We have had enough of being ignored and seen as second class citizens. The wrong decision was made
