Thanks to The World for featuring my story about the magnificent 1,000-year-old Gion Matsuri in Kyoto! It was also super cool to be on the lead-in to the entire show! Check out my story at https://t.co/jmfOVFriew
Congratulations to the world, America is returning to sanity and decency and caring and health and economic well-being at the bottom and not just for billionaires @KamalaHarris@JoeBiden@AnandWrites
Statements poured in congratulating Joe Biden on his victory in the 2020 election — including from Trump's global allies. Iranian and Palestinian leaders expressed relief at the president's loss. https://t.co/0ah4w0lIk1
Van, thank you for expressing the sorrow and relief that we all feel. My hope is that those who hoped for a different outcome will take a moment to empathize with the pain so many of us have felt over the past four years.
Congratulations, @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris. Our two countries are close friends, partners, and allies. We share a relationship that’s unique on the world stage. I’m really looking forward to working together and building on that with you both.
Congressman John Lewis wrote before his passing: “Democracy is not a state. It is an act.”
What he meant was that America’s democracy is not guaranteed. It is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it—and that’s exactly what you did.
For four years, you marched and organized for equality and justice, for our lives, and for our planet. And then, you voted.
You voted for hope, unity, decency, science, and truth when you chose @JoeBiden as the next President of the United States of America.
While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last—because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities.
Now the real work begins.
To beat this pandemic.
To rebuild our economy.
To root out systemic racism in our justice system and society.
To combat the climate crisis.
To heal the soul of our nation.
The road ahead won't be easy. But America is ready. And so are @JoeBiden and I.
I pledge to be a President who seeks not to divide, but to unify.
Who doesn’t see Red and Blue states, but a United States.
And who will work with all my heart to win the confidence of the whole people.
