⚡️Let's talk European energy 🇪🇺
Another war is shaking the Middle East - and its consequences are reaching every European household: higher energy prices, inflation, slower grow.
Europe is now facing the second major energy shock in four years: what’s happening, who pays the price, and what Europe can do.🧵
First it was about destroying Iran’s nuclear program (Trump, Rubio and Vance). Then it was about regime change in Tehran (Trump). Then it was about degrading Iran’s missile capacity (Hegseth and Rubio). Then it was about degrading Iran’s ability to attack its neighbors (Caine). Then it was about preventing an imminent threat from Iran against U.S. troops in the Middle East AFTER Israel struck Iranian targets (Rubio).
Congratulations to the Trump administration for making the George W. Bush administration look competent.
🇮🇷🇪🇺Iran’s leadership decapitated. Gulf on edge of war. European bases targeted.
The Iran crisis is now directly affecting Europe’s security, energy supply, and interests.
What are the stakes?
How has Europe responded?

Khamenei’s death if confirmed would not mean the collapse of the regime, as its security and ideological institutions are deeply entrenched. However, it would signal Iran’s entry into a delicate phase of recalibration, in which its trajectory will be shaped by a choice between hardline rigidity to preserve the legacy, or pragmatic adjustment to safeguard stability.
The real question is not only Who will succeed him? but rather;
Will the transition be managed through a closed security mindset, or through a strategic outlook seeking recalibration and repositioning?
Three things to remember as the fog of war descends yet again on Washington:
1. Before Israel’s attack, US and allied intelligence agencies assessed Iran had not made a decision to build nuclear weapons and was likely years away from being able to do so.

Col flash.
"Decapitation rarely works with networked organizations such as #Hamas. Resistance will continue. More so, without a central hub of engagement who will mediators in Egypt and Qatar negotiate with to get hostages released?" #Sinwar
The UN says Israeli troops have opened fire at three positions held by UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon. Earlier this week, the UNIFIL force refused a request from the Israeli military to vacate bases near the border.
A good point by @yarbatman: "Iran's air defenses and missiles will run out at some point. Iran doesn't have the defense-industrial capability to churn out missiles at the rate needed to keep the war going, and it won't be able to buy them elsewhere." https://t.co/tN82gDnk0S
