This is the most eloquent and informative explanation of the Iran regime threat that I’ve heard in 23 years working on the issue.
And I’ve heard many.
From @TimSheehyMT who also is a former U.S. Navy Seal.
Truly an inspiring story!
Extraordinary. Talented. Disciplined.
But most important of all, for anyone who has met him, he’s a real Ben Torah!
Can’t wait to see what’s next for Zevi Samet.
An Al Jazeera opinion piece on the American and Israel attacks on Iran — and how hugely successful and organized they have been — is somehow better analyzed than any American media piece I’ve read on Iran. Seriously, read it: https://t.co/WSEV7bosMa

This is probably the best answer I've ever heard to the question, "Why did God create evil?"
A professor at the university asked his students the following question:
“Everything that exists was created by God?”
One student bravely answered:
“Yes, it was created by God.”
The professor asked :
“If God created everything, then God created evil, since it exists. And according to the principle that our deeds define ourselves, then God is evil.”
The student became silent after hearing such an answer. The professor was very pleased with himself. He boasted to students for proving once again that faith in God is a myth.
Another student raised his hand and said:
“Can I ask you a question, professor?”
"Of course," replied the professor.
“Professor, is cold a thing?”
“What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you ever been cold?”
Students laughed at the young man's question.
The young man answered:
“Actually, sir, cold doesn't exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is actually the absence of heat. A person or object can be studied on whether it has or transmits energy.
Absolute zero (-460 degrees Fahrenheit) is a complete absence of heat. All matter becomes inert and unable to react at this temperature. Cold does not exist. We created this word to describe what we feel in the absence of heat.”
The student continued:
“Professor, does darkness exist?”
“Of course it exists.” said the professor.
“You're wrong again, sir. Darkness also does not exist. Darkness is actually the absence of light. We can study the light but not the darkness. We can use Newton's prism to spread white light across multiple colors and explore the different wavelengths of each color. You can't measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into the world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you tell how dark a certain space is? You measure how much light is presented. Isn't it so? Darkness is a term man uses to describe what happens in the absence of light.”
In the end, the young man asked the professor:
“Sir, does evil exist?”
This time it was uncertain, the professor answered:
“Of course, as I said before. We see him every day. Cruelty, numerous crimes and violence throughout the world. These examples are nothing but a manifestation of evil.”
To this, the student answered:
“Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist for itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is like darkness and cold—a man-made word to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not faith or love, which exist as light and warmth. Evil is the result of the absence of Divine love in the human heart. It’s the kind of cold that comes when there is no heat, or the kind of darkness that comes when there’s no light.”

In the story of Purim, Haman offers to pay Achashveirosh 10,000 silver talents to destroy the Jews.
How much is that in today’s terms?
I asked ChatGPT:
“10,000 talents of silver would equal roughly 300,000–340,000 kilograms of silver. At today’s prices, that’s approximately $800–900 million in raw bullion value.”
Nearly one billion dollars.
That is what Haman was willing to pay for genocide.
And for what?
If that’s what he was prepared to hand over in cash, imagine the size of his fortune. He had power, wealth, status. Literally everything. And yet the one thing he could not buy, the respect of Mordechai, consumed him. Instead of enjoying the empire at his feet, he spent months obsessing over a single Jew who refused to bow.
And because it would look petty to destroy just one man, he expanded his grievance into a campaign against an entire people.
That is how irrational hatred works. Haman told Achashveirosh the Jews were “a scattered people” with different laws as a justification for his vendetta. That was the pretext but the real motive was wounded ego.
The irony is hard to miss. Then, the accusation was that Jews were dispersed and didn’t have sovereignty. Today, the accusation is that Jews do have sovereignty.
I grew up in New York City, in a regular middle class family. I was taught to work hard, to contribute, to treat people decently. And there are people who hate me simply because I was born a Jew. There is no grand explanation that makes that rational.
Purim makes something clear. Jew hatred does not begin with policy disputes or geography.
Haman lost everything, including his life. All of it for nothing.
Don't spend your life trying to decode the psychology of people who hate you. Live proudly and unapologetically as a Jew. Our heritage is extraordinary. Our survival is extraordinary.
And that is something no one can buy.
A Freilichen Purim! 🎉
@NYCMayor I would like to recommend that we not cancel alternate side parking after the storm. Let’s get everyone to shovel their cars out so that the @NYCSanitation can then plow the parking spots.

Every second reminds you why family is everything…
I own a small bakery. We aren’t famous, but we pay the bills. Last Tuesday, a woman came in. She was gripping her purse so tight her knuckles were white. She looked at the display case for a long time—too long. She pointed to the smallest plain vanilla cupcake we had. 'Just that one, please,' she whispered. 'Could you… could you put a tiny candle on it? It’s my daughter’s 6th birthday.' I looked at her shoes. They were wet. It was raining outside, and she had walked here. I looked at her eyes. Red-rimmed. I knew that look. It’s the look of a parent who has to choose between rent and a party. 'I’m sorry,' I said, putting on my best acting face. 'I actually have a huge problem. See this 8-inch chocolate cake with the unicorn frosting?' She looked at the expensive cake on the counter. 'My new decorator messed it up,' I lied. 'The icing is… uh… uneven. I can’t sell it. I was about to throw it in the trash. Would you do me a favor and take it off my hands? No charge. It saves me the guilt of wasting food.' She stared at me. She knew. The icing was perfect. She started to cry, right there in front of the croissant tray. 'Are you sure?' she asked. 'Please,' I insisted. 'You’re doing me a favor.' She walked out with a cake that would have cost $65, holding it like it was gold. Yesterday, I found a card slid under my door. It was a drawing from a 6-year-old girl. A unicorn with a big smile. And in wobbly crayon letters: 'Thank you for making my mommy happy.' Best profit I’ve made all year.
