Student: Ms. Page do you like your job? Do you do it just for the money?

Me: no definitely not for the money, teachers don’t get paid enough

Student: oh so you’re broke?

Today I began my fourth year of teaching. Here’s a look at my first days of school for all the previous years. Here’s to hoping I maintain my smile throughout the school year 😁 #youngblackeducator #thirdgrade 👩🏾‍🏫🍎✏️

I studied history at university and took a number of modules on nazi history. When I asked my lecturer what happened to Black Germans, he responded that there “wasn’t really any.” And this is how erasure happens seamlessly in the classroom.
