44 years ago today we were liberated by 2 Para. We had been locked up for 29 days , boy we were all pleased to see them ! Please retweet so that this message is seen.
@militaryhistori I thought the @BritishArmy issued soldiers, pockets for putting their hands in. I’ve seen many photos of senior officers with hands in their pockets to prove the fact.
On 18 May 1944, Allied forces broke through the Gustav Line at Monte Cassino, a turning point in the Italian campaign.
The Polish II Corps, led by General Władysław Anders, played a decisive role in this victory. Their courage and sacrifice, symbolised by the Polish flag raised over the monastery ruins, remain an enduring part of Poland’s military legacy.
Monte Cassino also reminds us of the strong bond between Poland and the United Kingdom, forged in war and carried forward through shared values and cooperation.
Today, we remember those who fought and fell.
We will remember them.
@Ricky_C90@RobbieAndrews8 Obviously this time of the season, who’s going and who’s staying, where GM needs to strengthen, do we sign 1 or 2 keepers permanently or dip into the loan pot again.
