@danshipper in a show of solidarity and to reduce Frontier AI risk, Anthropic has committed to opening up Fable's weights to the open source AI labs for distillation. Rumor has it that OpenAI is also considering doing the same for Astra.
Finally, we're getting to a point where the breakneck pace of AI model training is moving faster than alignment efforts and the industry is signaling a slow down and 'Pacing of the Frontier' ! Won't be easy coordinating this slow down, considering the commercial incentives, but well worth the effort.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

Opinion from @ABenton: "The more intertwined our lives become with AI, the more biases could bloom, some of which could result in life or death. Before AI exacerbates inequities throughout society, we must include and protect minority data today." https://t.co/wjkbojwvlB
