❗ New @nberpubs and @TheIFS working paper: "Labor Supply and Wages over the Life Cycle: Human Capital and Disability Benefits", with @R_Blundell_UCL , Monica Costa-Dias, @CostasMeghir, and @TomWatersEcon. long-ish thread below! 1/12
Lots more in the paper, incl. counterfactual benefit and disability policies that we find to be welfare-improving, as well as lots of descriptives on how work, wages, health, and family structures have evolved in the UK since the beginning of the 1990s. Link in next tweet! 11/12
Despite the rise of nonstandard, flexible jobs, worker's perceptions of their job security have not worsened. In the May issue, by Alan Manning (@alanmanning4) and Graham Mazeine (@gmazeine). https://t.co/kN8rkHnPUG
The method is basically a Poisson regression with judiciously-chosen fixed effects. We apply the method to the US and find that around 13% of migrants leave within 8 years (mostly men), but very few leave after that. 2/2
New working paper w/ @alanmanning4 that proposes a method of estimating return migration rates in the *absence* of panel data that would allow the researcher to follow individual migrants over time. 1/2
. @alanmanning4 and @gmazeine present a new method to estimate how many and which migrants are likely to leave their host country (the return migration rate), allowing for a more detailed estimation of return migration rates for small groups.
