Pakistan has its own space programme, yet we send it £133 million a year in aid while shutting down Britain's largest space telescope because we “can't afford” a few million.

This telescope helped inspire generations of scientists.

If we keep cutting investment in our own scientific infrastructure while other nations push ahead, we'll only fall further behind.

The Economist's editor-in-chief Zanny Minton Beddoes went to a private all-girls boarding school in Shropshire where fees run up to £45,000 per year (about $60,000).

She was born and raised in Shropshire, one of England's most affluent rural counties. She attacks @elonmusk saying he's wrong and the UK is thriving. Elon hits back that she lives a cloistered existence.

He's absolutely right. She's Oxford and Harvard educated. She doesn't live in the towns where migrant grooming gangs operate. She can't see the destruction from her ivory tower.

So many elites in this country and Europe are removed from the decay their leftist policies have brought. Good on @elonmusk for calling her out.

The UK last built a public water reservoir in 1992.

The population has increased by over 10 million in the intervening years. Including a surge of immigration.

Now, the state has the cheek to announce a hosepipe ban. Why is that necessary?

Because no infrastructure has been built to cope with the expanding population.

It rained for the whole of January but not enough reservoirs to catch the water.

Our governments have been absolutely and unrelentingly crap. Short-termist.

Only interested in importing cheap labour. Not a care for the people who live here and want things to work as they do in a civilized country.

The next reservoir, in Havant, is not scheduled for completion till the early 2030s.

Prepare for more hosepipe bans and collapsing sewers.

Britain urgently needs an effective ruling class before we slide into a failed state.

In December, I wrote to the Treasury and asked them for details of how much different migrant groups pay in tax, and how much they claim in benefits.

They just got back to me.

Apparently, they don't collect that information because it's of "limited value".

This is Labour MP, @Jas_Athwal, he has declared 18 properties, including 15 residential rentals and 3 commercial properties, making him the MP with the largest declared property portfolio in the House of Commons.

So where's the outrage?

Where are the endless headlines?

Where are the cries of "conflict of interest"?

If owning multiple properties is suddenly a political scandal, then surely the same standard should apply to everyone, regardless of party.

You can't spend weeks hounding @Nigel_Farage over his property portfolio while turning a blind eye to @UKLabour MPs with substantial property interests of their own.

One rule for them, another for everyone else.
