@BurnResearch Yes it definitely is, ours produce a lots of silk and we’d always recommend untreated larvae. However some feedback we’ve had suggests people find silking a problem in their assays, or that the task of removing the silk is too fiddly/time consuming.
Now on 🦋 too, can find me at JamesCPearce (as on here). If you want to follow the updates from @gmrcuk that @JennieSCampbell, @thewakefieldlab and I manage - we're there too @ both GMRC and GMRCUK
Berlin was awesome. Fantastic to see @erk0199 doing well with his #CrisprGalleria, and very happy to be able to present what we’ve with been doing with #Galleria / @gmrcuk to a lovely bunch of researchers in the evolutionary biology dept @FU_Berlin
Characterization of novel phage pK3-24 targeting multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae and its therapeutic efficacy in Galleria mellonella larvae https://t.co/EkIz3zoO3x
Off to visit @WUR and @FU_berlin in my @gmrcuk capacity! Really looking forward to visiting @EvelineSnelders and Jens Rolff’s labs after having the pleasure of meeting @MW_MartinW and @erk0199 during their visits to @LSI_Exeter
To accompany the release of yesterday’s pre-prints we have the second of our YouTube videos now live! Covering:
- hemocyte flow cytometry
- larvae dissection and anatomy
- embryo injection and transgenesis

Couple of cool PhD opportunities at @UniofExeter as part of @GW4BioMedDTP involving the #Galleria model, @gmrcuk / @thewakefieldlab or a combo of both for anybody interested in a bit of moth work!
When your students are talented both inside and outside of the lab 😍
Thanks to our fantastic summer student Pippa for this incredible card! Over the last 8 weeks Pippa worked to assess different methods of hemocyte collection and fixation 🐛🔬
