@DylanKnowles @BladeoftheS Do the maths. Roughly 1/6 of housing is renter occupied. Over 10 years house prices increase by 38%. Over the same period other common marker of price increase increased by same or more. Beer fuel 37% beer 51%. No one rents beer or fuel. Why did they increase by same.

Capital tied up.

A home that someone can occupy immediately with no massive deposit or mortgage.

Ongoing maintenance, compliance, Insurance, safety certification, financial risk if the tenant doesn’t pay or big repairs.

@SteveLaitner There probably isn’t a good explanation. However, I do think being informed you are being referred for a chest CT following a cxr finding is something a GP will do very well where tact, empathy and communication are required in equal measure along side clinical knowledge.

landlord selling does not magically make tenants homeowner or social housing. It may be bought by someone else. leaving one fewer home available to rent. Which many people need or needed (me).

@DylanKnowles @BladeoftheS Again i agree. banks do charge interest at a higher rate than base rate which earns them money. This is costly for landlords and will in the long run make rents higher.

@DylanKnowles @BladeoftheS Health, food and shelter should be provided where people don’t have. Nothing about this stream suggests I or anyone else feels otherwise. Agree lattes are not a right but food is. But this can be readily sold to people without the seller being persecuted

@DylanKnowles @BladeoftheS Providing a service generates income and most providers have assets. for example, coffee shops own property and equipment. Coffee pricing is unrestricted and there’s no tax penalty to drive them out of business. So why acceptable coffee shops to be profitable but not landlords

I’ve stayed in hotels a few times but didn’t get Hilton shares. whoever provides needs to be compensated. Why single out rented property providers over other providers.

Make being a rental company unprofitable and all the parasites will go somewhere else.

Then there will be cars to buy and they will be affordable.

@LocalFish321 @BladeoftheS Exactly. There’s more to this than people choose to acknowledge. Not everyone wants to buy. Some have owned before and now prefer flexibility and lack of hassle that comes with renting. Others only plan to stay somewhere briefly, making buying impractical or financially unwise.
