@MarcDalton Stop fighting Carney on semantics. Please consider this:
With Trump wrecking the old Order, competing spheres are already building new “Orders.” One will emerge dominant whether or not Canada is a part of it. Carney is positioning Canada to lead in building a Democratic one.
@Ziggyp22@JayGenXer And yet, you haven’t once answered my argument. Instead, you reply criticizing a word I use or by labeling me a liberal. Disinformation deliberately uses false information to convey the appearance of truth. Different from misinformation because it is always tactically intended.
@JoRansing80929@KMichael93@JayGenXer Quite unequivocally, the economy is not booming in the U.S. tech stocks have created a bubble. Talk to the man in the streets and you’ll get a different story.
No socialism in Canada. I believe you’re confusing the term with social safety nets, which I’m quite happy Canada has.
@JoRansing80929@KMichael93@JayGenXer I’m also a U.S citizen, and I wouldn’t be so smug if I were you. Take a deep breath and look at what’s happening around you. Trump is going to crush everything he touches, and the U.S. economy, which he’s ’not concerned about’ may never recover if the midterms don’t stop him.
@Ziggyp22@JayGenXer You misquoted me to make your point. I said watch news from a lot of different sources, so you can see their biases and filters. Then you can triangulate across them for hints of their filters. That’s different from social media ‘news’, which is mostly amplified disinformation.
@Ziggyp22@JayGenXer Ha ha, that’s really funny. If you’re stretching for a response yourself, don’t try to insult me, (by the way, calling me a leftist doesn’t) watch the news from lots of different sources, and always think critically.
@KMichael93@JoRansing80929@JayGenXer I don’t. I just see him trying and a lot of conservatives, who don’t want to see him succeed (because they want political power) blowing smoke.
No doubt, lots of politicians will get pet projects passed, but we need to compromise to move forward together in this dangerous time.
@KMichael93@JoRansing80929@JayGenXer Carney’s strategy focuses on reducing Canada’s dependence on the U.S. ( ~90% of Canadian exports) by building a web of new trade connections across the world.
Yes, housing and COl are issues, the problem is conservatives won’t fix them with worn out trickle down theories.
@KMichael93@JoRansing80929@JayGenXer Just saying it with conviction doesn’t make it so. Carney has deepened trade relationships with lots of countries. More will follow. One big problem is that right wing influencers don’t want him to succeed. The failure narrative is meant to be a self fulfilling prophecy.
@Concern70732755 Two points. (1) The 10-years covered in your chart are 2014 to 2024. Obviously, it’s misleading blame Carney, who became Prime Minister in 2025. (2) .5 GDP is disputed, with consensus somewhere between 1.1 and 1.7, not great, but not as bad as your highly political post suggests.
@mulvenna8@JayGenXer You hope not I suppose. The deal is contingent on buying the jets, but it’s a deal if Carney finalizes it nevertheless. Why would he wait? He needs bargaining power in the CUMSA talks, but if those talks go south, expect it to be finalized.
