A lot of technological progress and breakthroughs in self-driving have happened since Elon spoke about this a decade ago. Many companies have pretty much given up, with only Tesla left standing and Waymo operating in a limited way. I do not believe it is impossible for Rivian. I am not saying I am sure, but at some point, others will catch up to Tesla.

@DirtyTesLa I really hope so. I'm running version 14.3.3, and it's a regression with navigation and some decision-making. It also sometimes reacts erratically.

I am not as smart as he is, however. In my opinion, currently Uber's technology is built for a ride-sharing service with a human overlay. It is an absolutely different technological requirement to operate cars without humans doing a lot of things outside of moving the car from point A to point B.
