This can be such a strange country - why am I seeing people jubilate, that a man, who once commanded the highest heights of power, took decisions that affected all of us, but now out of power, and being sought back home for various alleged criminal offences, but who has clearly evinced the intention of never returning to face accountability has been granted permanent residency by another country?

Is this a record we are happy about especially as it relates to public accountability? Every other politician is watching and calculating their next move.

But in any case, extradition has nothing to do with permanent residency, even nationals (plus dual nationals) of a foreign country can be extradited to another country.

But all this tells you about how deeply polarized we have become as a society.

You can commit the worst of crimes and once you belong to a political party, you will get a steady stream of hundreds of thousands of people who do not care about what you have done, even how it affects them, but ready to offer blind support to you, eternally!!

Our Firm - Merton & Everett LLP - is representing A mother with an infant baby who was recently repatriated from South Africa.

Apparently before she left for SA, she had a money dispute with someone who reported her to the Police. In her absence, a bench warrant was issued for her unknown to her.

When she arrived at the airport with the repatriation flight, she was detained by immigration and arraigned at the Dansoman Circuit Court.

Our application for bail for her was denied. Mother and infant baby remain in cells.

She must be happy to be b3rk!

Does it ever dawn on you that even though he is facing 7 counts of rape and 1 count of sexual assault., He is on bail; and can even attend a World Cup?

And Because Trial date is fixed for June 2027; he is allowed to go about his life; and only show up for trial when due?

In Ghana, to get bail for someone accused of a misdemeanour offense is like a battle against the devil. We treat personal liberty like you are asking for the Judge’s virginity.

Such a strange strange people. Even when you are on bail, you can be reporting every month/2weeks to court for 4 years, when the trial hasn’t even started. And even though nothing is happening, dare you miss 1 day. They will issue a bench warrant.

Our criminal justice acts as if it isn’t designed for humans but for animals.

These are things you need to reflect on!
