@FAREASTPATRIOT Just seeing this! For some reason I can’t access my messages - can you send me an email ([email protected]) or call me at 576-8643? Apologies for the inconvenience!
🚨Alert for Southlands/Galway, Aug 12, 2025🚨
The Paddy’s Pond fire has expanded. An evacuation alert for Southlands/Galway is active. This is not an evacuation order. Crews continue with suppression efforts. Please continue to monitor media for updates and be safe.
It was great helping plant the ceremonial fruit trees for our new edible garden right in Mundy Pond by the new H.G.R. Mews Community Centre!
A big thank you to @TreeCanada for supporting this project and to our own Keith Bessey for all the hard work to make this happen! 🍎 🌳 🍐
A big thank you to St. Mary’s Elementary for having me at their Tweens are A-MAZE-ING event showcasing art, games, and more! All in support of the Gathering Place to support the whole community. What a time!
Thank you Ms. Pinsent for the invite, and the kids on such a good job!
@TizzardBill Hi Bill! Happy to discuss this further with you, but in short, I’m keen on us lowering the mill rate where possible. One of the reasons I voted in favour of Budget 2025 was because there was no raise to the rate. I’m actively looking at ways we can lower it for next year!
I’m thrilled to share that we’ve got the new Mews!
While there’s still lots to do before opening in September, we’ve got the building and are working on final steps to get things ready. I’ll keep everyone informed as always, and I look forward to seeing you there soon!
Today, I was truly humbled with the honour to lay a wreath at the National Memorial on behalf of the City to mark the 80th anniversary end of the Battle of the Atlantic alongside veterans, service personnel, and dignitaries.
Lest we forget.
Had a blast at the 2025 St. Patty’s Day Seniors Dinner and Dance! ☘️ 🇮🇪 Be sure to subscribe to our city newsletter letter if you haven’t yet for what’s happening here in St. John’s!

International Women’s Day honours the strength and contributions of women and girls worldwide. In St. John’s, women have inspired and shaped our community. While progress has been made, we must continue to #AccelerateAction for equality.
Today, we celebrate women everywhere!
@FAREASTPATRIOT@DannyBreenNL Just for clarity we haven’t changed anything yet, but staff are looking at additional options for voters in the future, and returning to 1 in person station per ward (except ward 5). Happy to discuss with anyone interested in this and will send you a DM!
For National Flag Day, we replaced provincial flags with the Canadian flag at City Hall to show solidarity in light of recent events. This flag symbolizes unity and sovereignty. As a proud Newfoundlander and Labradorian, and Canadian, I stand by it, reaffirming our shared values.
Very grateful to have been able to help coordinate a community food donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Theresa’s. A big thank you to the MUN 2026 Education Class, Bon, and Mike, and everyone at the food bank!
Consider dropping off a few items if you’re able!
It’s with considerable frustration that I share the news of a further delay of the new Mews opening. While this isn’t easy to share, this decision was made to ensure we have the best facility possible for our community.
As always, I will continue to provide regular updates!
A big thank you to @RNC_PoliceNL
for taking time this week to meet with me to discuss important public safety issues in the community and my district, especially speeding on our roads and in school zones. I’m excited to work collaboratively to keep our community safe!
A great opportunity. I thoroughly enjoyed my time advocating for seniors while on the Seniors Advisory Committee and encourage anyone with an interest to apply!
@dakameal It’s a heck of a facility and has got some really great equipment, I’m really excited for residents to get in. Looking forward to it just like you!
Got to tour the new Mews today and see the great progress being made. While we’re still a bit away from opening, staff are starting to move in to get ready to open up shop (opening date to come).
Can’t wait to get in there with residents!
