If you have a habit of being hard on yourself or are chronically unhappy, it's good to regularly strive to cultivate self-compassion, gratitude, and mindfulness. If you've tried to cultivate these things and you still feel bad, it's because you're a failure and piece of shit
โThe Library of Ashurbanipal in Nineveh burned down in 612 BC, but because its 30,000 tablets were made of clay, the fire actually baked and preserved them, and we can read Mesopotamian poetry today because someone tried to destroy itโ
Claude Opus 4.8 has been absolutely incredible for diagnosing car trouble and helping me DIY fix it. LLMs + YouTube make it so fixing some things myself is actually *more convenient* than a mechanic would be. Definitely takes less time, and far cheaper, even if more effort. Also I get to learn about how my car works
@Aella_Girl "Humans are just molecules colliding" etc. Seems like a run of the mill reductionist view (though AI reductionists are not, I think, typically reductionists w/r/t other things, which is a flag)
the etymology of โboycottโ is interesting โ the term actually comes from the โIrish Land League ostracism of Capt. Charles C. Boycott (1832โ1897) [โฆ], who refused to lower rents for his tenant farmers.โ

i am boycotting the painfully bland bisyllabic gender-neutral prefixes/suffixes โpersonโ and โpeopleโ in favor of the far more aesthetic monosyllabic gender-neutral prefixes/suffixes โdude (gender-neutral)โ and โdudesโ/โfolkโ
or should i say, i am dudecotting the above
a spider had babies in my bathroom and now every time i go in the bathroom there are new baby spider webs everywhere. i find it adorable but unfortunate because they are colonizing places i use frequently and that means that their webs get destroyed and i get spiders on me
i actually donโt mind having spiders on me, but if theyโre on me then iโm suddenly tracking a new thing and i donโt want to kill it and also why is it on me and why are there so many on me etc
if a creature is about the same size as a person, being stepped on isnโt a life-threatening risk
around the size of a dog or cat, it starts to become risky, though usually a person is still tracking things the size of a dog or cat, so still safe
mice have to be vigilant
most bugs donโt stand a chance against an errant foot
but the crazy thing is, being below a certain size (mites?) also confers immunity to dying by being stepped on
