My friends and I argued about the all-time roster forever. So I built the thing that settles it. Draft one legend at every position - QB, RB, WR, TE, OL, DL, LB, DB - then see if your team goes a perfect 17-0. Fair warning: it's addicting. https://t.co/HbtLr2hdPS
@JeffDuncan_ Taysom Hill is the one guy who breaks every all-time roster argument. You draft one legend at every position and he'd somehow be eligible at five of them. Unicorn in cleats is exactly right — there's no slot on a depth chart shaped like him.
@Zirksee Throw power is the most fun stat in football and the most misleading. Every all-time roster argument starts with who had the biggest arm — Elway, Favre, Marino — then somehow ends with everybody taking Montana anyway. Milton at 99 two years running is undefeated trivia.
@sponhourm What makes that stat sting is that the all-time Browns roster is genuinely loaded. Otto Graham, Jim Brown, Ozzie Newsome, Joe Thomas. One legend at every position and that team beats most of the league. The win column is the only thing that never cooperated.
@EAMaddenNFL@NFL@Lions@oregonfootball@AroundTheNFL Everybody builds an all-time team and then treats the O-line like furniture. Sewell in the 99 club is the rare lineman argument people will actually have. Honest question: if you're picking one legend at every position, does a tackle ever go before a receiver?
@MySportsUpdate Stafford at 99 is going to start more arguments than all of camp. Fine - the only question that actually matters: of these ten, who are you handing the ball to in a game you have to win? I'll wait.
@PistachiosGoat Related data point: 300 people have built an all-time roster on my 17-0 site - one QB slot, anyone in history.
Peyton 45, Brady 44. Mahomes is 5th at 8% - and the only 2020s QB in the top eight.
Ten more years of this and that number looks very different.
@ESPNNFL@RichEisenShow Fun context: fans building all-time rosters already put Donald 3rd among defensive linemen ever — behind only Reggie White and Bruce Smith, ahead of Joe Greene. He's the only player from the last 15 years anywhere near that tier. Retired, and still the pick.
@CaptainCons Timely. We looked at 300 all-time rosters fans actually drafted and simmed: Peyton vs Brady at QB is a dead heat — 45 took Peyton, 44 took Brady. Tiebreak: among the rosters that actually went 17-0, Brady starts more of them. The argument really is that close.
The Ravens' all-time roster is nastier than people remember. Ray Lewis AND Ed Reed on the same defense is borderline illegal. Build Baltimore's perfect roster and see if it can run the table 🏈 https://t.co/Z76aVOseLE
Most all-time rosters people build stall out at 12-14 wins — it's a clean bell curve, and only about 1 in 30 ever runs the table at a perfect 17-0. The mountain is real 🏔️ Think you've got the team that does it? https://t.co/Z76aVOseLE
Four rings in six years and a Steel Curtain defense that probably should've been investigated. The '70s Steelers are the last dynasty everyone actually agrees on. Build the all-time roster and see if it still goes 17-0: https://t.co/Z76aVOseLE
@NFL_DovKleiman "Most overrated of all time" for a guy who made a Super Bowl? That might be the most overrated take of all time — and that's a STACKED category. Burrow's only crime is an O-line that pass blocks like a turnstile.
Mount Rushmore of players who'd walk into today's NFL and immediately be the best guy on the field.
Mine: Jim Brown. Randy Moss. Lawrence Taylor. Deion.
You get 4. Go. And no, you can't just take mine.
Steve Young. Barry. Rice. Reggie. Seau. Deion. That's the 90s roster and every name on it is an argument-ender. This era has the athletes. It doesn't have this. Run it and see if it goes 17-0: https://t.co/Z76aVOseLE
NFL Top 100 season is the best time of year. Nothing on earth unites this league like 90 grown men furious about being ranked 41st.
Drop the most disrespectful ranking you've ever witnessed 👇 I'll allow appeals.
@SleeperNFL 63 for the best safety in football is a full cry-for-help ranking 😭 Hamilton is a top-5 defender in the league, period. Whoever built this Top 100 needs their ballot revoked.
@PFF "today" is carrying this whole list. Prime Randy Moss needed three defenders and a permission slip to be covered by anyone here. Loaded group though — Chase and Jefferson are quietly building real all-time cases
@BarstoolBigCat Mt Rushmore of NFL birds is the only version that counts and I will not be hearing Cardinals slander today. Ravens, Eagles, Seahawks, and the Cardinals get the 4th spot on a century of suffering alone
ESPN's execs and scouts just voted Josh Allen the best QB in football. Cool. Now go build the all-time BILLS roster and tell me it goes 17-0. One legend at every position. 👉 https://t.co/Z76aVOseLE
