This is a GREAT read that speaks of the importance of allowing students chances to make conjectures and incorporating writing to allow students the opportunity to express their “why”.
SCCPSS Hand2Mind district manipulatives training was a success! The session focused on fractions using pattern blocks, Cuisenaire rods, and fraction grids. Mrs. Denise Huddleston facilitated promoting critical thinking and reasoning. Excellent job!@denisehuddle @BethA123snoopy
I enjoy Marian Small's (@marian_small) Open Questions. She takes a traditional problem and opens up parts that lead to interesting explorations and conversations.
If you like them too, she's got an online workshop about creating & using open questions: https://t.co/ixQ9eAezEv
I had an amazing time these past two days facilitating math sessions at the district’s Teaching and Learning conference. Teachers were engaged and excited to learn why the CRA strategy and fluency are necessary for conceptual understanding.
