I finished my PhD about 2 months ago, and I just want to share that:
*I spent >5 of 6yrs convinced that I was uniquely behind or lost or dumb
*I worked 50+hrs some weeks but 15 others
*Rest and hobbies helped my science
Struggling doesn't mean you don't belong.
@OpenAcademics
Hi #astrotwitter! My second 1st-author paper with @DanielleABerg is out on the arxiv today! If you've ever wondered what stellar populations are in Reionization analogues or how to reproduce He II from extreme emission line galaxies, check it out! https://t.co/A8EvC4vWDn
So we try to get an idea of what the additional source of photons might look like and find that we need a source ~80,000K with a luminosity half that of the young stars in the galaxy! In the end, we don't know what that source is, but we made a list of options to test!
#Astronomers who play PokémonGO rejoice! The stars and planets are in the game now with the real-time sky update! Thanks @PokemonGoApp this is beautiful! ❤️
Next up is Grace Olivier from @OSUAstro discussing powering mechanism behind emission lines in very young Galaxies ... Exciting (<- See what I did there 🙃)
For some reason I always think sitting on the floor will make me more productive.
The only positive of this pandemic is that no one can see me sit on the floor in my office.
