We are funding two new AI institutes with @NSF to help astronomers understand the cosmos: NSF-Simons AI Institute for Cosmic Origins led by @UTAustin and NSF-Simons AI Institute for the Sky led by @NorthwesternU. https://t.co/cyjgVPqUhE #science#astronomy
Congrats to Dr. Jane Rigby and Dr. Ellen Ochoa, who were selected by the @WhiteHouse to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom today!
Dr. Rigby and Dr. Ochoa will be honored for their trailblazing achievements in a ceremony this afternoon: https://t.co/BDrlFNeI7t
Congratulations to Julianne Dalcanton (@dalcantonJD) on being elected as a member of the 2024 class of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences! Julianne is the director of the @FlatironInst Center for Computational Astrophysics. @americanacad#FlatironCCA https://t.co/Glv8GOILx7
We’ve selected a new @NASAUniverse mission! UVEX — UltraViolet Explorer — will conduct a deep survey of the whole sky in two bands of ultraviolet light, providing new insights into galaxy evolution and the lifecycles of stars. Congratulations to Principal Investigator, Fiona Harrison and her team! https://t.co/H9nNIb37rV
We’re kicking things off with a prize postdoctoral fellowship. Please apply! https://t.co/DszlLFTYPB
Write me or any of the other involved faculty (including @MBKplus @astrocaits @DanielleABerg) with any questions, and stay tuned for more info about our center!
I’m beyond excited to announce the formation of the Cosmic Frontier Center! This new center housed in @TexasScience@UTAstronomy will bring together observers and theorists to tackle the most pressing problems in galaxy formation. https://t.co/aRrLCqdIki
When I was a new Assistant Professor I learned this and thought it would only apply to things I didn't want to do. Now, 15+ years later, it's clear that many of the things I have to say "no" to are things I actually want to do, but just don't have time. That's the tough part.
