@BjBragason Þú mátt drekka áfengi. Þú mátt bara ekki kaupa það. Þú mátt gifta þig, en ekki versla guðaveigarnar í veisluna. Algjörlega galið fyrirkomulag.
Doctors and obesity:
1825: "Cut the bread, sugar, and starch. Eat meat, fish, and butter. The patient becomes lean."
1860s: "Refined carbohydrate is the cause of corpulence. Restrict it."
1920s: "Carbohydrate restriction reverses obesity. The mechanism is metabolic."
1950s: "High fat, low carb. The clinic results are remarkable."
1977: "Actually, eat less fat. Eat more bread, pasta, rice, and cereal."
1990s: "Drink fruit juice. Eat low-fat yoghurt. Avoid butter."
2000s: "Calories in, calories out. The population needs more willpower."
2010s: "Everything in moderation. The patient is non-compliant."
2020s: "Obesity is a chronic disease. Try Ozempic. £200 a month, indefinitely."
2026: "Reversal through diet is not realistic for most patients. Please collect your repeat prescription."
You: noticing that the cure was understood a century before it was buried, and that the burial coincided exactly with the moment the food industry took a seat at the table.
Alcohol and tobacco are available on every street corner.
Cigarettes proven to cause cancer. Alcohol proven to destroy the liver, the brain, the marriage, and the careful plans of an entire weekend.
Both legal. Both taxed. Both stocked at the petrol station.
Raw milk, on the other hand, sold by a farmer three miles down the road from a cow that has a name, must apparently be regulated as a public health threat.
The petrol station sells nicotine pouches, vodka, energy drinks containing seven grams of taurine and a kilogram of sugar, and an entire wall of ultra-processed snacks designed by chemists.
The farm gate down the lane sells a glass of milk. The same milk humans have been drinking for ten thousand years.
The petrol station is fine. The farm gate is the problem.
You can decide which of these your government is actually trying to protect you from.
UK law:
If you are Muslim you can punch a police offer in the face, bang your first cousin and claim benefits for your fourth wife (also a family number)
If you are white, you get prison time for tweeting how pissed off you are about it.
Labour are inciting riots
The West didn’t “randomly go insane.”
Andrew Lobaczewski called this process "pathocracy" decades ago: rule by psychopaths.
A society where manipulators, narcissists, and ideological fanatics rise to power while sane, moral people are punished for resisting.
Taxes
OH …UNITED KINGDOM
This is very interesting.
If I give you £1 billion and you stand on a street corner handing out £1 per second, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, you would still not have handed out £1 billion after 31 years!
Now read on. This is true and rather hard to really understand.
The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases.
1. A billion seconds ago, it was 1959.
2. A billion minutes ago, Jesus was alive.
3. A billion hours ago, our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
4. A billion days ago, no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
5. A billion Pounds ago was only 13 hours and 12 minutes, at the rate our present government is spending it.

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 60 years ago, and our nation was one of the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt.
We had the largest middle class in the world. A criminal’s life was uncomfortable. What on earth happened?
