42 years ago tonight, June 8, 1984, West Boylston native Donnie Beardsley (RIP 2015) seated at The Fours Boston(RIP 2020) before Game 5(“Heat Game”) of the 1984 Finals and delivered his now‑legendary prediction to the NBA Entertainment crew.
Later that night, a friend who worked at the Garden snuck Donnie and his buddy Dale inside. They camped out in the men’s room until the doors opened and the crowd started pouring in.
40 years ago today, June 8, 1986, Boston Celtics won their 16th title, hammering Houston Rockets 114–97 in Game 6.
Many still call that ’86 group the greatest Celtics team ever.
Larry Bird dropped a 29p‑12a‑11r triple‑double and took home Finals MVP.
