Barack and I were so honored to have @AkunyiliCrosby create our portrait for the Obama Presidential Center. Her artistic brilliance shines through — and the way she infused such life and joy into the piece is truly extraordinary. We love it, and we think everyone who visits the Center will too!
It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby — a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist — to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.
One of the greatest mistakes we can make is assuming tomorrow will look exactly like today.
History rarely announces its turning points in advance. Change often begins quietly, in conversations, in convictions, and in the decisions ordinary people make when they choose not to stand on the sidelines.
Cynicism tells us nothing will change. It teaches us to watch, complain, and withdraw. But progress has never been built by spectators. Every generation is shaped by those who remain engaged even when the outcome is uncertain.
As a new week begins, resist the temptation to disconnect from the future being formed around you. Stay informed. Stay involved. Stay hopeful.
The truth is that things can change. Circumstances can shift. New possibilities can emerge. But they rarely do without people who are willing to participate in the process.
This week, commit to the belief that your voice matters, your contribution counts, and your presence is needed.
Don’t just witness history unfolding. Be part of what helps shape it.
Your week is already blessed.
Enjoy

The FG should direct all NSCDC officials to be redeployed to their states or origin and allow the state government to take full control of the state command, appoint the state commandant and support their funding while the FG continues to pay them their salaries and other financial obligations.
If the state government needs extra personnel they can recruit, train them and pay them. If they need arms, the FG can supply them arms after due diligence.
With this, we may achieve a mini state policing since the NSCDC are already armed but better weapons should be given to them.
The idea is to make security indigenous and local. We all know our villages and forest.
