How do I explain this to a non-Nigerian?

Domestic round-trip flights within Nigeria:
• Lagos → Enugu: $150
• Lagos → Abuja: $170
• Lagos → Port Harcourt: $230
(All within the same country)

But in the UK / Europe:
• London → Paris, France: £45
• London → Madrid, Spain: £90
• London → Milan, Italy: £30
(Cross-border international flights)

How is it that flying within one country in Nigeria costs significantly more than flying across multiple countries in Europe?

This is why many Nigerians describe it as exploitation, not efficiency.
