@harleyf Are we able to have more than two categories of variants though? For example, having the categories of shoe color, size and material (and then each category allowing for different variant options).
@tobi Please make it easy to have 3 or more variants at once! While there are new categories, it appears there are still only 2 variants allowed at once?
I interviewed 20 founders on Season 3 of @turningpropod.
That means CPG operators, SaaS builders, and serial entrepreneurs at every stage of the journey.
Everyone thinks their advice would be wildly different.
They’re wrong.
Here are the 5 most common lessons founders shared:
5. You Can’t Scale If You Burn Out:
Wellness came up more than I expected, and not just as a trend. @MichaelChernow talked about Muay Thai. @brianvonancken leaned into presence over performance. @MalkaShlomit focused on inner alignment during high-stress transitions. Nearly everyone admitted they’ve let routines slip and paid the price.
Lesson: Longevity matters. Protect your energy.
4. Surround Yourself with the Right People:
Samantha Coxe (@goflaus) put it simply: “B-players bring down A-players.” @livschreiber_ built entire communities rooted in shared energy and intention. John Sampogna emphasized how internal culture drives long-term wins. Every founder emphasized how much team quality sets the ceiling.
Lesson: Keep your standards high. The right energy compounds.
3. Repetition Builds Confidence:
Confidence isn’t a personality trait. It’s built through consistent execution. Michael Chernow and Matt Rosenfeld both admitted they didn’t start fearless. @EllisFried reflected on how early failures shaped his decision-making today. They got there by showing up every day, again and again.
Lesson: You get sharper by doing hard things on repeat.
2. Obsession and Speed Are Your Edge:
@Cyrus845 said quick replies signal whether someone’s really in the game. @1alexsong1 treats every problem like training. Part of the job, part of the fun. Colm Mackin bet the entire brand on a single product he knew would win. These founders don’t just think fast. They move fast.
Lesson: Obsession signals ownership. Velocity sets you apart.
1. Start Before You’re Ready. Build by Doing:
No one waited for the perfect moment. They just started. @JGCatalano launched before the product felt ready. Nico Ferreyra dropped out of college with six weeks left to build full-time. And as Samantha Coxe said: “Everyone’s just figuring it out.”
Lesson: Execution beats perfection. Reps matter more than readiness.
Appreciate every guest who came through this season.
Season 4 is in motion - the mission continues.
@mcuban@KamalaHarris For the people in the back 👏 Amazon is a huge culprit of allowing Chinese knockoffs to enter the market with little to no push back, hurting American small businesses.
