Alarming statistic in this article -care-experienced children are 8x more likely to enter the youth justice system in England. This underscores the importance of recent legal guide. We must prioritize support over criminalisation

Growing up in care in the 90s and 00s, most of us didn't know about intersectionality, but we knew that us Black kids had a much tougher time of it. Viewed as suspects because of our skin colour and care status.
Now, we have the language and (thanks to @barnardos) a report that speaks to the intersections of care and race discrimination, a #DoubleDiscrimination that can make Black care experienced children the most likely care demographic to be criminalised - Black care experienced children are almost twice as likely to receive a custodial sentence than their white counterparts.
It was great to attend the report launch in Liverpool today, to hear @KimJohnsonMP call for systemic change and to connect with professionals and academics in the sector.

Yesterday we protested CAMHS don’t care if Autistic kids die at Downing St. We presented my petition of 204k signatures to number 10, Damien did so well and made a statement about his feelings on CAMHS and what he wants to see as a result of submitting the petition. I'm so so +

A long overdue and welcome ban on pain-inducing restraint in the children's secure estate
The Youth Custody Service @hmpps must not now contradict itself & roll out PAVA spray to staff, giving them new tools to inflict pain on children
