Booking Direct is a term used to describe booking a travel product such as a lodging, air or car directly with the service provider (hotel, B&B or vacation rental, airline, or car rental agency) versus through a third-party intermediary such as an online travel agency like Expedia, Airbnb or Vrbo.

The benefits are that you typically get the best/lowest rate and you don’t pay an added third-party service fee (often between 15-20%). This adds up to a very material savings every time you book.
