what a curious sport, can sell out a Wallaby game a month in advance, Brisbane close to a sell out as well by all reports a week later, yet the Super Rugby comp drifts by with barely a ripple. The team is 7th or 8th in the world, people clearly still care about the sport. Odd
@ShaunOfTheFuzz Funny you say that, good chance it changes again. But there’s also a major issue the kiwis are crazy hard to beat at home. Crusaders are 33 - 0 at home in finals. It’s near impossible to win over there. Means half the comp can’t win it. Which means interest is pretty low.
@LaniRefiti@Hugh_96 And if every team every year has the ability to sign players and give their fans a chance to get excited about their chances, we are closer to NRL. Closer to a bigger TV deal. More interest. Bigger economy within the game. Right now it’s stale with the kiwis dominating.
@LaniRefiti@Hugh_96 All this is true. there ls a better way to run the comp IMO. Nz needs to unlock our market. It’s time for free movement between teams. If Savea wants to play for the tahs he should be able to. Still eligible for abs. But across the board free movement.
@Hugh_96@kinson88@Mattychops@SuperRugby@StanSportRugby Given the comps history Hugh, just saying “we should get better” likely is a road to nowhere. Since inception 21 titles to Nz. 4 to Oz. 3 to Saffas. Since 2014. All kiwis. We probably know the top 4 next year now. And likely know the bottom 4.
@kinson88@Mattychops@SuperRugby@StanSportRugby I’d rather we have our own comp with our own winner from the current teams and the Drua. Then a cross over into nz and japan for a champions cup. We aren’t getting anywhere under this current format. Time to see an Aussie team lift trophy every now and then.
@Vlad_Drac77 We have a big economy. A big following of the game, that every year is asked to watch their team knowing that they likely can’t win the comp. And it’s become apparent, people aren’t interested in that. It’s not working in Australia. Change needs to come.
@brumby_fan Brumbies won twice. No Saffas won. Blues and crusaders won every other comp. The issue is ours. Not NZs. If it were me. I’d start and EOI on private ownership of teams and start an au comp with Drua. Nz can please themselves. I want to see an Aussie team win the comp annually.
@Vlad_Drac77@nickabes@ChristypDoran Yep. That true. It’s why we shouldn’t continue to be whipping boys. There’s no point in this for us. The wallabies aren’t better for it. Commercially we struggle as there isn’t an Aussie team holding a trophy every year. You guys should go alone. As should we.
@brumby_fan@nickabes@ChristypDoran Well, historically you would get the rebels force and tahs twice. The brumbies would beat them. Then wins few games at home v the kiwis, home final. This year is the first year in a while they haven’t had to face the bottom teams twice a year. But history says, the comp is cooked
