Markacy x @Digiday@Pinterest is going all-in on programmatic, and its newest hire is the tell.
Chip Jessopp, Amazon’s former director of global accounts and North America ad tech sales, joined the visual search platform on May 27 as its first head of programmatic. Reporting to chief revenue officer Bill Watkins, he’s been tasked with building new demand channels and scaling Pinterest’s still nascent programmatic business.

Markacy x @Adweek 👀
When Amazon introduced ads on Prime Video in January 2024, it promised a light load—just two to three-and-a-half minutes per hour. Less than 18 months later, that number has quietly doubled.

Great piece by @KimekoM from @Digiday on Retail Media Networks and if they will fall into the same pitfalls and limitations as programmatic buying has encountered.

Love this.
In a world where brands have constant access to digital advertising channels and data like cost per conversion, cost per click, etc. It becomes easy to focus on the instant gratification of spending marketing budget there.
Leading brands are also finding unique ways to invest in brand awareness outside of the platforms to connect with their customer and enhance advertising's effectiveness overtime.
Extreme example (who knows how true), but shows what some brands are willing to do.
