Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee on Wheat today.

The committee evaluated overall grains availability across the country and examined import plans aimed at keeping local supplies steady. DPM/FM stressed that maintaining sufficient stocks and preventing any disruption in grain supply remain top priority for the government, noting that smooth coordination between federal and provincial bodies is vital to keep prices affordable for the public.

He directed the concerned authorities to monitor market trends closely and ensure that supply of wheat is adequate and atta prices are on a downward trajectory.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for National Food Security & Research; SAPM Tariq Bajwa; Secretaries of National Food Security & Research, Commerce and Maritime Affairs; senior officials from all provinces and relevant ministries and departments.

Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lt. Gen. Hassan Khattak, HI (M), called on Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

The DPM/FM congratulated Lt. Gen. Hassan Khattak on assuming his responsibilities as Chairman NDMA and wished him success. He expressed confidence that Pakistan’s disaster risk management capabilities would be further strengthened under his leadership.

They exchanged views on disaster readiness, climate adaptation and institutional preparedness across the country. The DPM/FM highlighted the importance of cooperation with international partners in building resilience and mitigating the impact of natural disasters.

ملاقات میں نائب وزیراعظم و وزیر خارجہ محمد اسحاق ڈار، وفاقی وزیر منصوبہ بندی احسن اقبال، وفاقی وزیر اقتصادی امور احد خان چیمہ، وفاقی وزیر خزانہ و محصولات محمد اورنگزیب وزیر پیٹرولیم علی پرویز ملک، مشیر وزیراعظم برائے سیاسی امور رانا ثناءاللہ ، وزیر مملکت برائے خزانہ و ریلوے بلال اظہر کیانی بھی موجود تھے۔

وزیراعظم نے پٹرولیم مصنوعات کی قیمتوں کے حوالے سے جماعت اسلامی کی جانب سے مزاکرات کا راستہ اختیار کرنے پر وفد کا شکریہ ادا کیا ۔

جماعت اسلامی کے وفد نے پٹرولیم لیوی کے خاتمے اور عوام کے ریلیف کیلئے اپنے موقف کا اظہار کیا۔

وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ انہیں پیٹرولیم مصنوعات کی قیمتوں میں اضافے سے عوام پر پڑنے والے بوجھ کا پوری طرح احساس ہے۔ حالیہ علاقائی صورتحال کی تناظر میں پیٹرولیم مصنوعات کی قیمتوں میں اضافے کے حوالے سے کم آمدن والے طبقے کو سہولت دینے کے لئے حکومت کی جانب سے دی گئی پیٹرولیم مصنوعات میں ریلیف کا ذکر کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ حکومت علاقائی بحران کے حل کے لئے بھرپور سفارتی کوششیں کر رہی ہے تاکہ صورتحال معمول پہ آ سکے۔ موجودہ بحران کا تعلق حکومتی پالیسیوں سے نہیں بلکہ علاقائی اور بین الاقوامی حالات کے پیش نظر تیل کی قیمتوں میں اضافے سے ہے۔ تاہم مالی استطاعت کے مطابق حکومت عوام کو ریلیف فراہم کر رہی ہے اور کرتی رہے گی۔

وزیراعظم نے وفد کو کم آمدن طبقے کے لئے پیٹرولیم مصنوعات کی مد میں حکومت کی جانب سے اب تک فراہم کی گئی ریلیف کی تفصیل سے آگاہ کیا اور مطلع کیا کہ اب تک ایک کروڑ ستائس لاکھ افراد اس سکیم میں رجسٹر ہو چکے ہیں۔

ملاقات میں اتفاق ہوا کہ حکومت اور جماعت اسلامی کے تین تین اراکین پر مشتمل کمیٹی مندرجہ ذیل اقدامات پر حتمی سفارشات پیش کرے گی:

1. عوام کیلئے پٹرول پر جاری ریلیف اسکیم کا دائرہ کار بڑھایا جائے تاکہ ��یادہ سے زیادہ مستحق عوام اس سے فائدہ اٹھا سکیں ۔
2. پٹرولیم لیوی میں مرحلہ وار کمی کیلئے بجٹ کے لئے قابل عمل تجاویز مرتب کی جائیں۔

Seventy-nine years ago today, Indian forces landed in Srinagar, and a long night fell over Jammu & Kashmir.

For nearly eight decades, the Kashmiri people have been denied their inalienable right to self-determination, a right affirmed by the UN Security Council. They have endured repression, incarceration and immense suffering, yet their resolve has never broken.

On this solemn day, I pay tribute to the countless Kashmiri men, women and children whose sacrifices keep the flame of freedom alive. Aspirations rooted in justice cannot be extinguished by coercion.

Pakistan stands with Kashmir today and always. We will continue our moral, diplomatic and political support until this dispute is resolved in accordance with UNSC resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.

On Jammu and Kashmir Black Day, I pay tribute to the courage, resilience and sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters. Seventy-nine years after Indian forces landed in Srinagar on
27 October 1947, the people of IIOJK remain steadfast in their just struggle for freedom.

India’s unilateral measures since 5 August 2019, including demographic changes and continued repression, have not weakened their resolve. I urge the international community to play its role in ending human rights violations in IIOJK and work for a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

I reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering political, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people and their inalienable right to self-determination.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif's Message on Jammu & Kashmir Black Day, 27 October 2026.

Seventy-nine years ago, Indian forces landed in Srinagar, marking the beginning of a tragic chapter in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, one that continues to cast its long shadow over the region to this day. Since then, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been denied the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination, as affirmed in the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have endured immense hardship, suffering and repression. Yet their courage, resilience and unwavering resolve to secure their fundamental rights remain undiminished. The sacrifices of successive generations stand as a powerful testament to their enduring commitment to freedom, dignity and justice.

India has continued its efforts to suppress legitimate political expression and silence the voices that represent the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. The prolonged incarceration of Kashmiri political leaders, activists and human rights defenders remains deeply concerning. It underscores the need for due process, respect for basic liberties, and greater international attention to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Since 5 August 2019, India has taken a series of unilateral measures in IIOJK, accompanied by sweeping restrictions on fundamental freedoms. These measures, affecting the political, legal and demographic character of the territory, have drawn serious international attention. Pakistan has consistently called for these developments to be addressed in accordance with international law and the applicable United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Pakistan's position on Jammu and Kashmir remains clear, consistent and principled. Lasting peace and stability in South Asia cannot be achieved without a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

On this solemn occasion, I pay tribute to the countless Kashmiri men, women and children who have offered immense sacrifices in pursuit of their rights. Their memory will always be honoured. The aspirations of the Kashmiri people cannot be extinguished through coercion or repression.

On this Jammu & Kashmir Black Day, the Government and people of Pakistan reaffirm their unwavering solidarity with the people of IIOJK. Pakistan will continue to extend its moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people, and to advocate for their legitimate rights at every national and international forum.

May the people of Jammu and Kashmir realize a future of lasting peace, dignity and security, and the fulfilment of their aspirations, including the right to self-determination.

Federal Tax Ombudsman Mr. Zafar ul Haq Hijazi called on Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 today.

DPM/FM emphasised the need to ensure speedy, transparent and due relief to taxpayers through the timely disposal of complaints, improved systems and closer coordination with the FBR and other relevant departments. He underscored the importance of implementing recommendations to strengthen grievance redressal and improve tax administration.

The Federal Tax Ombudsman briefed DPM/FM on ongoing reforms and the initiatives undertaken to facilitate taxpayers and enhance institutional efficiency.
