This is something that took me a very long time to understand, and it was none other than the great Dr. Israr Ahmad who helped me grasp it.

Allah’s knowledge is pre-knowledge, not pre-destination. Time does not exist for the Almighty in the way it does for us. Allah has already seen what every person will freely choose, how each life unfolds, and where it ultimately ends. This is why the Day of Judgment is sometimes described in the Quran in the past tense because
it has already been witnessed by Allah. The entire timeline is present before Him all at once; it is not linear from His perspective.

This is also why I shared a few days ago that time is, in a sense, an illusion. We experience it as a sequence because we are bound by this dimension of existence, but Allah is not constrained by time.

So no, Allah is not choosing your good deeds or your bad deeds for you. Rather, He knows them because His knowledge encompasses the entirety of time and existence. His perfect knowledge of our choices does not negate our free will.
