These are NOT “official federal holidays,” they only apply to Executive Department employees, not businesses or other government branches. ONLY CONGRESS can create federal holidays. And everyone who can do so usually takes the 26th off when it’s a Friday anyway, as it is this year. Most will also take the 24th off if they can. Big deal.

And the order says some departments can require employees to work anyway, so DHS, ICE, and CBP will be kidnapping kids in the Toys R Us parking lot.

Once again, taking credit for things people already do, as if he invented Christmas.

Then why not go after the schools, not the nurses? This does nothing to help nurses advance in their careers and thus increase their income. It just keeps them from becoming doctors, administrators, teachers. They start up the ladder, then the government cuts away everything but the lowest rungs.

You don’t seem to need a break. If a woman can’t get a student loan for graduate work, she can’t advance in the field, meaning a nurse or social worker can’t become an MD, can’t work her way up to management or administration, can’t start or run her own agency, and therefore can’t raise her income. Name a male-dominated profession where a man can’t get a student loan for a Masters, PhD, law degree, med school, or MBA. Tell me how this doesn’t trap women at the bottom rung of the career ladder. In fact, it removes the whole rest of the ladder.

Just curious…are any of your investments in health insurance companies? Most companies like Fidelity have at least some of your money in funds that invest in them. So, to switch up the slogan that CFPs use, “you do well when they do well.” I wonder what could happen on the investment side when they don’t do as well. Just pondering unintended consequences.

The Senate just banned weed.

THE SENATE JUST BANNED YOUR WEED. At the last minute those sneaky Republican SOBs passed an amendment to the Agriculture appropriations part of the “open the government” bill that basically reduces the allowable levels of TOTAL THC to under .3%. That’s “why bother” territory. So now, in addition to not being able to pay exorbitant health insurance premiums, people with cancer and chronic pain won’t even have access to the palliative effects of weed? SHAME on the Senate Republicans. Can someone please explain this?
