@dieworkwear It’s a slight misreading. A wider stripe was and is for more senior people. A lawyer friend of mine was gently but firmly cautioned on the subject in chambers, when as a junior he wore a too-wide (thus bold) chalk stripe rather than a more modest pinstripe befitting a new broom.
