It's interesting to remember that this was entirely politically possible 18 years ago, but Democrats decided to not merely surrender to the GOP, but in many cases they decided to use their power to crush what was momentarily possible...and now here we are.
You need to understand that this is by design. Working-class people used to be shockingly literate. The rich and powerful have built a society where most folks are addicted to screens because mass literacy threatens them. They want you to be stupid. We resist them by reading.
