Agree on the second point but I just don’t know where you’re getting this shocking out of possession bit. How do you explain the duel and possession winning numbers over two seasons for someone that bad in defense? My eye test generally aligns with those numbers but we all have opinions
You sure you’re not just watching clips too? Wharton does fine out of possession, good positioning and reading of the game, solid in the duel. No other CMs on the market, and really not very many in the game, offer what he does on the ball. We’re well stocked on midfield physicality
@theplantainshow I feel like it’s all relative. An Algerian scarf for this man can be equal to our gorilla friend hitting that shit. I’ll crunch the numbers later
Classic case of why stats and eye test are BOTH necessary. Van Hecke and Senesi will lead all your stats, but watch Romero regularly and you will see him find passes that no other CB does. If you watch with your eyes and think the other two are better, fair enough and opinions are cool
@Riffaz55 One is an example of Spurs using data to identify players who have done a particular thing. The other is using data to evaluate two players head to head with no additional context. Entirely different uses
