@NIHRinvolvement Involving patients and the public saves money - more relevant research, less duplication, better information, more targeted recruitment, less waste.
@GCUPodiatry Gordon Donaldson delivering a short paper @RoyColPod national Conference. Start of a research journey on patient conversations without fear based messaging and therefore without the word ‘remission’ . Loved it. @RuthBarn @Gordon_Hendry

📢❗️Researchers from Glasgow Caledonian University are working with Keele University to bring the largest randomised controlled trial of treatments for plantar heel pain (plantar fasciitis) to Scotland, it is now live in @NHSGGC and @NHSLanarkshire 1/5
If you have plantar heel pain (plantar fasciitis) and live in the Glasgow/Lanarkshire area and are interested in taking part, please contact the TREADON trial team using the QR code or phone number in the poster. If you sign up, your care will be delivered locally, 3/5
This trial will involve over 600 people from all across the UK, and we want as much representation from people in Scotland as possible. The trial in Scotland is being led by investigators in @nhsggcpodiatry and @NHSLanPodiatry, supported by researchers at @GCUReach 2/5
It was at that point he realized that the incentives of hospitals are not aligned with healing:
"The way things are set up is that the hospital needs to make money; they need to make money. They need to grow economically.
The problem there is that if you figure out a way to help patients heal and that in that way doesn't include a pill or surgery well then the hospital and the doctor are in big trouble.
Because if you figure out a way to help people heal and you can't charge them for it well then you've just worked yourself out of a job"
📢We are conducting a research study to understand the experiences of people with #diabetes who have been given insoles. If you think you'd like to take part in a short focus group, please contact Niloo by email [email protected] or scan the QR code to enrol. @RuthBarn
How are messages around "active ulceration" portrayed in health leaflets and by podiatrists/diabetologists? Important research that may be of interest to people who have diabetes and who have or have had a foot ulcer/wound @DiabetesScot@footindiabetes@RoyColPod@MyDiabetesMyWay
📢Do you have diabetes and have you ever had a foot ulcer? We are studying how diabetes-related foot problems are communicated by health professionals to patients. If you're interested in participating in a short interview, please ping Gordon an email!
