Bitcoin is supposed to be backstop liquidity for peace. If you tie them to backstop real estate, we’d go back to bombing buildings instead of sending drones to duke it out in the wilderness.
Howdafuq does America reverse engineer everything into blowing shit up?

Expectation: Ongoing sabotage by bcashers.
Reality: Bcashers just shipped yet another banger upgrade at @bchbliss, lots of future ideas spinning up, too busy to meddle around in BTC self-created mess.
BTC went from freedom money to a useless/harmless, purely speculative asset serving elites
Subverting the cypherpunk revolution through greed & hollow virtue signalling
A tragedy that is now one of the biggest disappointments of my life
This is the story of Bitcoin's fall: 🧵
As a young & idealistic bitcoiner in 2013, the future was bright, as everyone was aligned on the vision & goals of Bitcoin. We were going to scale to meet demand, add privacy & build DEX's. There was an undeniable optimism in the air, a can-do attitude.
That is, until the perversion & corruption arrived in the form of "L2 scaling" to borrow modern terminology.
An ideology that was far more pessimistic in nature, as it maintained that scaling while preserving decentralisation was impossible, so they might as well not try... A lie that only became more ridiculous over time.
So we fought the corruption for years from within; a battle we ended up losing, today known as the "blocksize debates". This is what animated me & even motivates me to this day, to fight the good fight for what is right. Explaining my journey from die-hard bitcoin supporter to bitcoin rebel, to the full-on critic I am today.
Read "Hijacking Bitcoin" to get a more complete picture of the history if you did not live through it yourself.
To sum it up briefly & bluntly here, a relatively small group of people effectively captured the BTC project. Who have since made massive changes to its purpose, economics & vision. All by refusing to raise a single parameter that was always meant to be raised; the block size limit:
Consequences
We are not being hyperbolic by saying that BTC lost everything that made it good & valuable. Let's take an objective look at what BTC lost as a consequence of this decision:
Without capacity: Mass self-custody, privacy, finance & commerce are all impossible on BTC now...
This means that the idea of P2P freedom money is totally off the table: Since if everyone in the world tried to do a single TX, the queue would be decades long... The network does not even support current holders moving their coins, as that would create months-long queues! So much for the future of money...
This is also what kills the security model. Without the fees, that increased capacity would have provided a death spiral-like collapse within a decade is inevitable. Unless inflation is increased beyond the 21M limit...
Making BTC not even a good store of value, as it has an unsustainable security model that will force unknown inflation increases in the near future. A worst-case scenario!
The chaos of this looming event cannot be understated, expect multiple forks, censorship & 51% attacks. Possibly even "bank run" like scenarios that can easily become a "death spiral". These are all things I covered in far more detail elsewhere, but I am not sure if I could even make up more dire consequences than this. Yet, this is the reality we are facing.
Prophets of Doom
In contrast, there are countless people repeating the same narrative I did in 2013. Of a decentralised global freedom money, secure & meritocratic. Without updating their damn thesis!
These are the prophets of doom leading everyone into disaster. Most people are being sold on a vision of BTC that is simply untrue. There is hope in that reality, as it means people want what BTC is selling, even if it is based on lies & or ignorance. The revolution is not lost, only diverted & delayed.
As the message we put out there exists in stark contrast to the mainstream. The truth will inevitably collide with the mainstream. Rather sooner rather than later to prevent more harm: A gradual shift away from BTC would be much less harmful than a dramatic collapse.
Unfortunately, the prophets of doom only seem to be doubling down on their flawed narrative. That is what makes me lean towards the likelihood of a dramatic collapse, which will hurt countless more innocent people in the process.
A particularly disappointing outcome for the chain that I once loved so much, we can reconcile ourselves with the legacy it still leaves behind in its children.
Cypherpunk
We can only change the world through mass adoption:
"A cypherpunk is any activist advocating widespread use of strong cryptography and privacy-enhancing technologies as a route to social and political change"
BTC is a technology that is literally incapable of mass adoption! Only through centralised custodians can people speculate en masse on what is now just a bunch of hot air... As purely speculative assets are the worst type of SoV.
Empowerment is the entire world using crypto directly, not through intermediaries & not through layers with complex trust-trade-offs. The revolution is that everyone has a "Swiss bank" in their pocket. Restricting capacity not only makes BTC unsustainable but also turns it from being for the people to being for nobody except a few crypto elites.
Most bitcoiners are LARPing as cypherpunks; they talk the talk, but they do not walk the walk because they support a chain that is incapable of achieving the vision, even betraying it.
We cannot change the world without utility; it is only by solving real-world problems that we make a difference. BTC neutered itself to the point that it is no longer a threat to the establishment. Likely delaying our complete revolution for decades.
There is Hope
In the meantime, the cryptocurrency industry has moved leaps & bounds beyond BTC. That is where the revolution lives, even thrives today.
I am no crypto shill, so make up your own mind about what to support. Do join us in the fundamental analysis where we construct theses & identify real value, something that also happens to align with cypherpunk principles in crypto! A happy coincidence of needs.
When you genuinely ask the question of what chains are serving the vision. Beyond mere narratives, the answer might surprise many, as it can turn everything upside down. So be brave & embrace the truth.
Financial Nihilism
Watching our heroes fall from grace can be demoralising. Even making many turn to financial nihilism, as a way to numb the pain from the loss of meaning.
I say, it is better to double down on what matters instead, with optimism & hope, refusing to give in to crypto's pessimists. Because that only plays into the hands of crypto's critics, who think crypto is a useless, purely speculative asset... Just like BTC!
That is how BTC's narrative causes so much harm in perception, as our loudest voices bend over backwards to justify the existence of a meme coin occupying the number one spot in market capitalisation...
No wonder our industry does such a bad job of self-policing & vilifying such behaviours when BTC justifies it every single day.
Conclusion
We can scale blockchain while preserving decentralisation.
We can bring about a better world through the mass adoption of this technology.
We can empower everyone, without compromise.
BTC cannot deliver on this vision; that is the harsh truth. It also does not matter how many people believe in BTC; the collapse is still inevitable. If anything, the more people believe in it, the worse it will get.
Hope is abundant, as we can find it in the alternatives, as BTC is unable to change before it is too late. Do not trust me; check it for yourself, as its doom is written in the open-source code of BTC for all to see. At the same time, the inability of BTC to change is evident in the political analysis.
Satoshi's revolution is thriving in Bitcoin's children instead, a beautiful outcome as the free market provides a cornucopia of novel solutions & choice.
So the failure of BTC is both my biggest disappointment & my biggest lesson, which makes BTC, as an experiment, a tremendous success even if it all ends in disaster. We lose this battle so that we can learn how to win the war.
“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us.”
BTC fooled me once, ETH fooled me the second time. Insist on stakeholder governance for the third time, or shame on both of us. We must not only own the capital but also the decision-making that rightfully belongs to that capital, or we are still mere slaves to the system.
This is why we can have so much hope, as there are solutions to all of these problems. Making the future blaze bright, as we bring about the revolution Bitcoin promised, by poetically manifesting the cypherpunk revolution in its children. 🕊
That is progression, as extinction is a necessary requisite for evolution. So if you love Bitcoin, do what is right & leave BTC behind. ♥️

@discsurfer@_paytaca_ Probably a bit expensive to ship an entire machine. Would be cool if they could release some kind of plug and play module for vending machines though, that would surely drive adoption.
Accepting small vending machine payments is an ideal use case for 0-conf txs.
Getting #BitcoinCash into your Paytaca wallet is fast and effortless with our BCH vending machine! In just a few taps, you can seamlessly convert your Philippine Pesos into #BCH, which will be sent to your wallet within seconds.

Widespread adoption of p2p cash will always be the strength of #BitcoinCash. Every other value we can build that other cryptos cannot can be built on top of this growing network. Pure speculative #DeFi is already a crowded market, let’s pursue #DeFi for the masses with #BCH.
The real bitcoiners left BTC by 2017
What BTC became had nothing to do with the original intent, vision, or purpose
BTC has, in fact, totally abandoned Satoshi's vision; it was meant to be P2P Cash, not a pet rock!
That is why real bitcoiners support BTC's competitors instead!
