Masks not only fail to prevent/promote respiratory illness but ALSO expose users to harmful toxins, including microplastics, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), per-/polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), phthalates, and heavy metals.

Jefferson et al found in 12 trials that wearing masks makes little to no difference compared to no masks in preventing influenza/COVID-19-like illness (RR 0.95, 95% CI 0.84-1.09) or lab-confirmed cases (RR 1.01, 95% CI 0.72-1.42).

Kisielinski et al reviewed 24 studies analyzing the content and release of substances from 631 masks (273 surgical, 228 textile, and 130 N95 masks). The majority of studies (63%) reported alarming findings, including significant release of micro- and nanoplastics (MPs and NPs). Exceedances were also observed for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), such as xylene and acrolein; per-/polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS); phthalates, including di(2-ethylhexyl)-phthalate (DEHP); and heavy metals like lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), cobalt (Co), copper (Cu), antimony (Sb), and titanium dioxide (TiO2).
