Father, husband, intensivist (human and fish) and occasional gas passer. Clinical interest in echo, ethics, vascular anaesthesia and trying not to kill my fish!
@JeremyChelot@youfibre Thanks for sorting.
Seems like it was some error communicating my mobile number to the contractor and them arriving early for the job
Hoping support can fix my longstanding IPv6 issue now! They have asked for more diagnostics so 🤞
@youfibre@JeremyChelot internet down for 30 hrs.
Booked an engineer for today and no show!
Support line painfully slow and say the engineer has been at my house since 12:33 - they haven't unless they snook in!
Then blame subcontractor for misentering 'inprogress'. Not good!
@goldstone_tony Will the following help the current inflation issue? (Obviously not fixing the wider issues)
“fixing the interaction between the pension tax system and inflation”
@UhbBay @SwanseabayNHS@jvin715@JayhamAmy Fantastic opportunity following real investment by @SwanseabayNHS in the ICU MDT allied health professional team.
Large ICU with lots of specialist/regional services - soon to include the Burns ICU for entire of South West UK.
Happy to chat in my Clinical Director role.
NHS pension statement misery time of year.
I’m 3k over my AA and I’m yet to receive my 1995 statement with a 10k rise compared to last year (nothing new in my job/pay)… hard working 100% NHS with a CD role…. madness @goldstone_tony
Wow this is complicated. Apparently all due to inflation changes in 21/22.
I estimate a 6k tax bill this year
With inflation/CPI trebled in 22/23….can’t wait until next year!
@apnoeaboy @nickopotamus@iceman_ex The major appeal point is whether to diagnose death by neurological criteria requires criminal (beyond reasonable doubt) or civil law (balance probabilities) standard of proof. The judgement is interesting as it seems to imply the judge diagnosed death.
@WelshGasDoc@CwmTafMorgannwg @Pauldmears @doc_spencer @lesleyannlewis2 Well done Dave and co. Doing these ad-hoc on family request in SBU and families are so grateful. Can you share the model and subsequent evaluation to a SIG meeting? @WCCTN
@ThaddeusPope@JennyKitzinger@OpenJusticeCoP But if treatment in question is simply not on offer (eg brain transplant as a very extreme example) patient wishes and best interests aren’t relevant? A capacitous patient can only choose treatments on offer - surely the same for those lacking capacity.
@JennyKitzinger@ThaddeusPope@OpenJusticeCoP Sticking point is futility is not always black/white? Is giving someone an addition week of life (existence in others opinion) futile?
@JennyKitzinger@ThaddeusPope@OpenJusticeCoP If treatment futile according to treating team and second (external) opinion then I struggle to see how it is a CoP case? Seems that NHS/legal don’t want to support clinicians in the fallout?
@JennyKitzinger@ThaddeusPope@OpenJusticeCoP I suspect the trust went for the not on offer approach (as futile) but following disagreement sought legal advice ending in CoP. Seems even if treatment isn’t on offer things are escalating to CoP. Was continued ECMO ever a treatment they were able/willing to offer?
