A Costco Gold Star membership costs $65/year. Most members justify it with bulk groceries and gas. They walk in, load a cart with paper towels and rotisserie chicken, fill up the tank, and leave. That's Costco to 90% of its 135 million members.

What most members don't realize: the $65 membership includes access to 11 services beyond the warehouse floor that save $2,000-$4,000/year services most members have never used, never visited, and in some cases never heard of.

A Costco employee of 8 years told his neighbor:

"You come in every Saturday. You buy groceries. You get gas. You leave. You've used 3 of the 14 things your membership gives you access to. You've never used the pharmacy which sells prescriptions 30-80% below CVS and doesn't even require a membership. You've never used the optical center where glasses cost 40-60% less than LensCrafters. You've never used the tire center where the purchase price includes free installation, lifetime rotation, balancing, flat repair, and a road hazard warranty. You've never checked Costco Travel which books vacation packages cheaper than Expedia with member-only extras. You've never used the auto program which gives you a pre-negotiated car price with zero haggling. You've never used the hearing center where hearing aids cost $999-$1,699 versus $4,000-$7,000 at private audiologists. And you've never read the price tags which have a coded language telling you which items are clearance, which are manager specials, and which are about to disappear forever."

His neighbor said: "I've been a member for 6 years."

"And you've used 20% of your membership for 6 years while the other 80% sat in departments you walked past every Saturday."

He showed her 11 things. Her annual Costco savings went from $800 to $3,200 same membership, same warehouse, same weekly trip.
