Under a leaking tarpaulin, in the middle of rain and mud, the coffins of two church leaders from Kultuh Village lie in silence.
Rev. Letminlun Haokip and Lunminthang Haokip were not armed volunteers . They were servants of God and their community. Yet their lives were cut short, burned alive, leaving their families grieving and their village shattered. The rain signifies the tears of all the death Kukis in the past few weeks, Helpless, Cold and longing for justice.

PRESS STATEMENT
10th June 2026
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) expresses deep sorrow over the recovery of the bodies of the six individuals who had gone missing. We unequivocally condemn their killings and extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
Where exactly were these much-celebrated "war ethics" during the Thawai incident, when two Kuki civilians were killed while merely repairing a village water pipeline? It is fascinating to hear lectures on morality today, especially from those who remained silent when innocent Kuki lives were being taken with alarming regularity.
From March to June 2026 alone, twelve Kuki lives—including an unborn child—were lost in incidents attributed to Naga assailants.
On 11 March 2026, Thangboimang Khongsai of Shangkai Kuki Village and Thengin Baite of Thawai Kuki Village were killed near Litan. Their bodies were recovered the following day.
On 24 April 2026, Letlal Sithlhou and Paominlun Haolai were killed at Mulam-Shongphel.
On 13 May 2026, the Kuki community suffered one of its darkest days when Rev. V. Sithlhou, Pastor Paogoulen, and Rev. Kaigoulen were murdered along the Kotzim-Kotlen route.
On 5 June 2026, an entire family was wiped out at Loibol Khullen—Jangminlal Haokip, Letkhongam Haokip, Tinmary Haokip, and an unborn child of seven months.
And on 9 June 2026, Haokhogin Lhouvum was killed at Lasan.
These are not statistics. They were fathers, mothers, pastors, villagers, and ordinary civilians. Yet whenever these lives are mentioned, they are too often treated as inconvenient footnotes rather than tragedies deserving justice and outrage.
Remember the lives of the three pastors you took. Remember the day when NSCN-IM and the Kamson faction murdered three servants of God in cold blood. On that very day, despite immense public anger and demands for retaliation, Kuki civil society organisations ensured that Naga travellers on AH-1 were given safe passage. Thousands of Nagas passed through unharmed. Those Nagas who had been detained by angry members of the public and whose whereabouts were known were released, many on the very same day.
Yet the community that witnessed the murder of our pastors exercised restraint, while certain organisations that now speak loudly about ethics and humanitarian principles were, at the same time, accused of detaining students, daily wage earners, and civilians whose only crime was belonging to the wrong community.
The release of the fourteen abducted civilians is welcome because innocent people should never be held hostage. But releasing civilians whom you should never have abducted in the first place is not an act of extraordinary virtue. It is the bare minimum expected of any society claiming to possess moral principles.
Ethics and principles are not trophies to be displayed only when they are politically convenient. You cannot keep thumping your chest with one hand, proclaiming your moral superiority, while conveniently ignoring the blood-stained blade in the other.
If you wish to speak of justice, then have the courage to acknowledge every innocent life lost—not just the ones that fit your preferred narrative. A moral principle that applies only to your own people is not a principle at all. Compassion that appears only when cameras are present is not compassion. And justice that remembers some victims while erasing others is not justice.
Selective morality is not morality at all; it is merely hypocrisy dressed up as virtues.

WCKCSOs-Ukhrul while acknowledging the UNC's role in freeing 14 Kuki hostages, states that the "higher moral ground" was initially claimed by the Kuki on 12 March 2026, when they released 21 detainees (18 Tangkhul and 3 others).

The history of the Kuki people is deeply intertwined with sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering loyalty to India. Considering the immense hardships endured, the lives sacrificed, and the properties lost by the Kuki people during India's struggle against British colonial rule, it is painful to witness how their contributions continue to be overlooked even today.
During the Anglo-Kuki War of 1917–1919, the Kukis bravely resisted the iron-handed policies of the mighty British Empire. Their courage, determination, and sacrifices have been acknowledged by several historians and researchers. According to records cited by Dr. Om Jee Upadhyay, former Director of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), out of 112 recognized freedom fighters from Manipur, more than 80 were Kukis.
Furthermore, at the INA Memorial Complex in Moirang, Manipur, the names of 198 freedom fighters from Manipur are inscribed. Of these, 170 are Kukis, 26 are Meiteis, and 2 are Bengalis. These figures stand as a testament to the immense contribution made by the Kuki people toward India's freedom. Yet, despite the sweat, sacrifices, properties, and blood offered for the cause of this nation, the contribution of the Kuki people has largely remained ignored and inadequately recognized throughout the period from 1947 to 2026, spanning successive governments from Jawaharlal Nehru to Narendra Damodardas Modi.
Unfortunately, the suffering of the Kuki people did not end with India's independence. Between 1993 and 1997, the Tangkhul-led NSCN-IM, under the banner of "Nagaland for Christ," carried out a devastating ethnic cleansing campaign against the Kuki people. During this period, more than 1,000 innocent Kuki lives were lost, over 360 villages were reduced to ashes, and countless properties were destroyed. Despite the scale of the tragedy, repeated appeals and hundreds of memorandums submitted to the Government of India failed to secure meaningful justice or lasting protection for the victims till today.
In 2023, another unprecedented wave of suffering descended upon the Kuki-Zo people.
More than 230 lives were lost, over 3,000 homes were burned to ashes, and 41,000+ people were displaced, even today, the conflict remains unresolved, and thousands continue to live with fear, uncertainty, displacement, and hardship on a daily basis.
In light of these historical and contemporary realities, it is difficult to understand how the Government of India can continue to overlook the prolonged suffering endured by the Kuki people under the threats posed by two secessionist forces in Manipur-the Kacha Naga movement and Meitei separatist elements.
The Kuki people have suffered enough. Their sacrifices for India, their loyalty to the nation, and their repeated victimization throughout history deserve recognition, justice, and a durable political solution.
The Government of India must acknowledge this historical injustice and address the legitimate aspirations of the Kuki people. The repayment for the blood shed, the properties lost, and the generations of suffering endured cannot be measured merely in monetary compensation or reconstruction of damaged properties. Rather, a Separate Administration under Article 239A of the Constitution of India should be considered as a constitutional and democratic mechanism to safeguard the lives, identity, rights, and future of the coming generations of the Kuki people, while simultaneously strengthening national security and ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region.
The Kuki people have consistently demonstrated their commitment to India through sacrifice, service, and loyalty. Their voices deserve to be heard, their suffering deserves recognition, and their future deserves protection.

#Manipur: Twelve Lives Lost, Yet Silence Continues
From March to June 2026, twelve Kuki lives, including an unborn child, were brutally taken in a series of reported attacks. These were not mere statistics. They were fathers, mothers, pastors, community members, and innocent civilians whose lives were cut short by violence. Their names deserve to be remembered, and their families deserve justice.
The killings at Litan, Mulam-Shongphel, Kotzim-Kotlen Route, Loibol Khullen, and Lasan reveal a deeply disturbing pattern of violence against Kuki civilians. Despite repeated incidents and the growing loss of innocent lives, the response from the authorities has failed to provide justice, accountability, or adequate protection for vulnerable communities.
How many more innocent Kuki civilians must die before decisive action is taken? How many more families must bury their loved ones while those responsible continue to walk free? The continued bloodshed and the apparent lack of accountability have created a sense of abandonment and insecurity among the affected communities.
We strongly condemn these killings in the strongest possible terms and demand that the Government of India, the Government of Manipur, and all relevant security agencies immediately identify, arrest, and prosecute every individual and group responsible for these heinous crimes. Justice delayed is justice denied.
The killing of innocent civilians, including religious leaders, women, and even an unborn child, is an assault on humanity itself. Such acts cannot and must not be normalized. The perpetrators must be held accountable under the full force of the law, regardless of their affiliation or influence.
We stand with the families of Thangboimang Khongsai, Thengin Baite, Letlal Sithlhou, Paominlun Haolai, Rev. V. Sithlhou, Pastor Paogoulen, Rev. Kaigoulen, Jangminlal Haokip, Letkhongam Haokip, Tinmary Haokip, the unborn child, and Haokhogin Lhouvum. Their blood cries out for justice.
The world must not look away. The government must not remain indifferent. The killings must stop. The perpetrators must be brought to justice. And the victims must never be forgotten.
Justice for the victims. Accountability for the perpetrators. Protection for innocent civilians.

🆘️Despite explicit warnings from @DGP_Nagaland, Kidongam Panmei (@ Victor) from Kohima, has been caught red-handed impersonating a Kuki under a fake identity.
Operating under this fraudulent Kuki persona, Mr Panmei deliberately sought to weaponised communal division & manufacture hatred against the Kukis by actively & aggressively provoking the Tangkhuls, Zeliangrongs & Manipur Nagas, with the explicit goal of sabotaging Peace & deepening ethnic hostility in Manipur.
■The danger here cannot be overstated because Mr. Panmei not an obscure instigator on the internet, he is the current Joint Secretary of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (@INCNagaland) , a prominent leader of the Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation (RNYO) & former General Secretary of the BJP ST Morcha's Nagaland unit, @STM4Nagaland.
🚨Nagaland Police must act swiftly & firmly against this dangerous provocateur before his calculated & poisonous campaign succeeds in igniting further conflict & bloodshed in the region.

14 innocent citizen finally released after being held hostage and used as a bait for almost a month while taking the life of 7 others including 3 Pastor and a 7 months pregnant women and other civilian by tangkul led NSCN IM .# was just a pressure and a desperate attempt cover
We must maintain peace. Violence is a two-edged sword—innocent people on both sides suffer while some exploit communities for personal benefit. Do not fight blindly or attack innocent people. Let us follow law and order, and seek justice legally. #Manipur#Kuki#Naga
Sword Vashum used #UNC as a weapon against the Kuki-Zo community. #CSO leaders from Chandel, Tamenglong, Senapati and Noney completely rejected his claims. Now due to NSCN‑IM and Sword Vashum’s policies many innocent people are injured and killed.

The alleged NSCN-IM violence in #Kultuh and the deaths of two innocent people are deeply heartbreaking. A fair investigation must be conducted, those responsible should face strict legal action and #Manipur needs #Peace—not hatred. #StopNSCNIM#JusticeForVictims#RejectNSCNIM
