Celebrated New York Times columnist @NickKristof wrote that large numbers of vulnerable infants, children, mothers and others are dying in destitute third world countries following Elon Musk's DOGE's closing of the Agency for International Development, with Trump’s backing.

Musk challenged Kristof to name one person in Africa or elsewhere who has died because of USAID’s closing. So Kristof, knowing what stopping critical medicines, food supplements, clean water and more would do to the life expectancy of these impoverished and sick families went to these areas and collected evidence and names of the deceased. He then wrote another column accusing the Muskites of knowingly endangering so many lives. He invited Elon Musk to join him on another trip to Africa to see for himself.

Cowardly Elon ignored the invitation and called Kristof “evil” and “a piece of shit.” This type of language from Musk’s foul mouth is not unusual. In the past it would be considered unthinkable from a CEO of a major company—Tesla—to use such snarling language risking probable buyers turning away. -R

All the signals are flashing red, the latest being @POTUS's summary dismissal of the remaining Federal Election Assistance Commission members.
Put that together with political hack Pulte's odious appt as DNI; election deniers in the most sensitive oversight positions; Trump's exec order on mail-in voting, and potential use of the Postal Service as a weapon of subversion; his pathological prioritization of the SAVE act, which would be the most powerful voter suppression tool in generations; and his persistent, unfounded claims of election fraud, which he uses to justify extraordinary federal interventions.
On the square, the @GOP would take a beating this fall, largely because of Trump's unpopularity.
So he's setting up Plan B--do whatever you need to do to win. Anything.
Anyone who says "Well, he wouldn't do THAT" hasn't paid attention. He's already proven he will!
So the period AFTER the Midterms may be even more turbulent than the run up to them.
The courts are going to be very busy this fall.

.@elonmusk says that no one can name a person who died from his aid cuts. In fact, I've met the kids who are dying, and I've talked to the families who lost children. In my columns, I've cited many, many names of people who have died because of Musk's aid cuts. A few examples:
*Yamah Freeman was a 23-year-old woman who died in childbirth because Musk cut funding for the diesel for ambulances in her part of Liberia. She couldn't get to a hospital and died as people were carrying her there. I talked to her parents and sister in their village.
*Gbessey Kiadu, age 1, died of malaria because of his cuts to malaria medication in Liberia. I talked to his mom in her village.
*Ibrahim Koroma, an infant, died of AIDS in Sierra Leone after he interrupted HIV supplies. I talked to health workers who cared for him.
*Achol Deng was an 8-year-old girl with HIV in South Sudan who died when Musk cut funding for the health care worker who provided her medicines. I talked to the healthcare workers.
I could go on and on. In almost every village you go to in South Sudan, Uganda, Liberia, Sierra Leone or other countries I reported in, you find people dying because of aid cuts. I challenge Musk: Come with me on a reporting trip, and we'll talk to these moms and dads, and you'll see the dying children themselves. I think if you see the kids whose lives are at stake, maybe you'll change your mind.
