Bone Marrow transplantation now at Free of cost under Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka Scheme.

I had requested and was continuously pursuing with the State Government through its Principal Secretary for Health and Family Welfare Department to include Bone marrow transplantation as coded procedure under Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka/ Jeevan Sarthakathe scheme.

Bone marrow Transplantation is required for patients suffering from Bone cancer, Thalassemia, Aplastic Anemia and other emtological related disorders. Currently this particular procedure is highly expensive costing about 20-40 lakhs in private hospitals and about 10-12 lakhs in public hospitals.

Now with Bone marrow transplantation being included as a coded procedure, the procedure will be done at free of cost in empanelled hospitals. It is a great boon for patients falling under BPL category who will be immensely benefitted by this initiative. I thank Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri @siddaramaiah , Health Minister Shri @dineshgrao and Shri Harsha Gupta, Principal Secretary of Health and Family Department in this regard.
