Nigeria's tax revenue is low. But ordinary Nigerians aren't the problem.

Many people already pay through PAYE, VAT and countless levies. The gap is the big players who should be paying but aren't, and a system full of leaks.

Taxing the same people harder won't fix it. Widening the net, cutting the multiple taxes and making payment simple will.

Nigerians will pay more willingly when they can see it in roads, power and hospitals.

Fix the leaks before you raise the bill.
