@TBob53 I’m convinced that in 30-40 years all of these teams that moved to the suburbs will be building new stadiums back in downtown areas. They’ll get their one Super Bowl, two Final Fours, and then everyone will realize what a mistake it was to move them away from the cities.
@FreakyPeezy Yeah. Cam is also a FA. So they really have no choice but to be open. I’m guessing they are still holding out hope for/under the delusion that someone calls and is willing to trade for AK (which isn’t happening) and that if they talk they’ll ruin his value or something.
@FreakyPeezy The media treats Cam and AK like they are beloved leaders in the locker room and maybe they are but I bet what Tyrann said isn’t entirely wrong: when it got bad, they bailed on the ship, and some people in the FO haven’t forgotten and don’t want a repeat performance.
@FreakyPeezy The whole situation is odd. They should have cut him in March and been done with it.
This is the downside of having a GM who is immune to public pressure and scrutiny. There are upsides to that but this is a downside. He doesn’t care how anything looks or plays.
@FreakyPeezy They won’t say it out loud, and I know they offered him a contract, but I think this is true for Cam Jordan too. They saw how he acted when he wasn’t playing the role he wanted AND they were losing, and I bet they are trying to avoid a repeat of that this year.
@FreakyPeezy I think that’s part of what this is all about.
The money matters sure. But, at present, my bet is they like 3 running backs on the roster better than him and they are worried about both the optics his mentality when he isn’t playing very much.
@ScottDKushner I’ve accepted that this team isn’t going to win a championship. At least not under this owner. They aren’t trying to be the Thunder. So if that’s the case, just give me as best a chance as you can to have a fun team and be done. Maybe they’ll stumble into a winner accidentally.
@ScottDKushner People asking “why would you trade Trey Murphy for Jalen Brown” are making my head hurt.
Because this is the Pelicans, and he’s Jalen Brown! Getting him here would make me the most excited I’ve been in 5 years!
Will it work? Is it smart? Who cares! It’s Jalen Brown!
The fact of the matter is Indiana had half of Alabama's NIL budget, a roster full of FCS transfers no SEC program would sniff at, and still beat Bama like a rented mule. That's not destroying CFB, that's saving it
@ScottDKushner The evolution of the business of professional sports that has happened over the past 20 years, where an exorbitant amount of the revenue these teams bring in has less and less to do with the number of butts in seats has allowed them to lean into all of their worst instincts.
@SaintsHistory@SaintsForecast@andrewjuge@SaintsHappyHour There’s literally no proof yet whatsoever that Kellen Moore is a great head coach.
I’m optimistic, he seems to be a good talent evaluator and developer. But he left a lot to be desired as a HC for a lot of last season. He has a ton to prove this year.
Both Vanderbilt - last season's top overall seed - and LSU - the CWS champs - exited the tournament, ending injury-riddled and frustrating seasons. These programs are led by two of the best in the sport and have blueprints for success. This shows just how challenging it can be to have sustained success in today's uber-volatile landscape. In other words, if it can happen to them, it can happen to your team too.
Those fans of teams who may be griping about not making a top eight or not hosting, just look around and appreciate the accomplishment of being in the fight. While the national title is the annual goal for some programs, today's college baseball is going to leave you a stocking full of coal occasionally. LSU, Vanderbilt, and Clemson all hosted in 2025 and will miss the field in 2026. Louisville and Arizona played in Omaha and won't make the postseason. Duke won a regional and will stay home. Winning is hard. Winning each season is as tough as it has ever been. -- For more:
@TurdFNOLA5 I’m with you. I hope they hold the debate off forever. I would love to see it and Lambeau become the Wrigley and Fenway of the NFL. Plus, as you said, its structure allows it to be renovated more easily than many other stadiums. I just hope the next owner sees it that way.
@TurdFNOLA5 Yes they just renovated it. They also signed what is essentially a 10 year lease extension that they can opt out of in 2035.
That’s when I would expect to start hearing chatter about the building if there’s a new owner who wants a new building.
@TurdFNOLA5 Yeah, my point was how long they can hold off the debate for.
The Dome is good enough for the Bensons. It’s good enough for me too. I love it.
The question is: is it good enough for the next owner? Because if not that’s when the debate comes back into play.
