@danieldibswe Years ago we implemented mpls in campus to support segregation needs, still being used today. I observe that vendor offering differs in campus, dc or sp, and there the limiting factors comes in, not always from architect/designer minds ;-)
@danieldibswe the firewall plays then directly in dynamic routing with the rest of your https://t.co/DCIfEBn2xM, to which extend you don’t need core routing anymore even in that scenario,it will depends on the needs (qos, vrf …) very interesting question !2/2
@danieldibswe in addition to the prod and cons already answered in this thread, for data center fabric (leaf and spine topo ) connecting to core, the gw will be typically in your fabric and the fabric will route the traffic to fw when needed (if not always ;-)), 1/2
Question i received today from a colleague working , subnet A is full /24 next consecutive subnet /24 is empty, can we make it a /23 ? What is the impact ? Hint: in which case a end host does juste L2 résolution and in which case it will do use the gw !
@stubarea51 I‘m observing Cisco TAC cases lasting for much longer and even more worried ending without concrete conclusion and not clear root cause. Sign of decrease of Cisco software (or hw) quality ?
@PacketChucker@danieldibswe maybe solution like anapaya might start to come handy to offer good alternative of the security benefit of mpls private service on regular plain internet
@PacketChucker@danieldibswe Indeed, private lines are not subjected to ddos etc.. but don’t offer easy internet based cloud connectivity (or only through direct connect alike)
@andylapteff Ensure no one can bother you and enter the room inadvertently, with kids at home , I lock my self in the room and ask my wife to ensure the kids remain away !
@nickrusso42518 @Kaon_123 What if the burstiness of traffic (causing queues to fill up) is not a customer choice but more a consequence of high speed data center connectivity(10/25/40 gbps) going over WAN with much lower speed. We can’t blame the customer of wanting a way to smooth things? Your thoughts?
@icemarkom @jeremiahfelt @NASA Not sure what they said but real-time from earth standpoints is true, it is just flow of information for an event happening 10 or so minutes in the past. Juste like you can watch light from stars in real time that do not exist anymore! My interpretation!
@dennislun @John_Capobianco Thanks for your answers. Interesting point in the data model driving the automation. This raises even more questions like for instance how to implement the data model to evolve from network centric automation to application centric automation!
