@innonaut_ai@elonmusk You are absolutely correct but we need a real definition of the user —- that sentience that is the individual. See https://t.co/jD7bEKEi6k
Your points are excellent but the language you use to describe the issues is almost incomprehensible. I am quite literate and I have to ponder your phrasing carefully to even understand what issues and which side of them you are referring to. That by itself highlights the fact that plain speaking loses the battle with carefulness. To the point that the message gets lost. I suggest a rewrite with the issues described in plain speech.
Just re-read Amodei January essay as a result of Pentagon scene. That article is key to viewing the whole scene. Thank him for the insights. A breath of good sense in all the noise. For your and his info Kaczynski Ivins and Aum Shinrikyo all had something in common. Heavy prior drug or medication use. I have done some research on this which you might find valuable.

@BillKristol A fantastic wrapup but there is a huge omitted: The overall purpose of AI. It has not been stated. I’ve written a longer article about this. See https://t.co/3MQyzRvGGk
An overall purpose for AI is missing. What should that be?
If we cannot answer that, the conversation becomes fragmented—technical progress without a coherent direction --- civilization just waiting for some outcome to happen.
Here is what I came up with with:
The task of AI should be to establish or restore the freedom of the individual and the sanity of the group.
If not this, then why bother building it at all?

@mattshumer_ I thought long and hard after reading your post. What I came up with was the omission of a clearly stated purpose for AI. Here is my articulation of that purpose: https://t.co/ELV3VdhxFI
It seems to be the case that individual reality is the most brilliant and frustrating thing in this world. Attempting to squash it or enforce uniformity is madness. Enhancing the individual is the only solution: make more brilliant, creative, kind people and get out of the way.

@satyanadella Agree fully but lets also add empowering individuals to the task. We must put attention on the individual user as well as the business user lest this all be ill used. The benefit must be to mankind.
@elonmusk The test is whether beings are elevated by technology. What a being who is in good shape does best is create. The best guarantee going forward is to encourage individual beings to create and to put them in shape to do so. A tougher job than system design. Call me.
