I agree on that! Technology has definitely made schooling much simpler but it can also lead people to false resources or to get distracted by other websites like gaming websites or twitter

I believe that there are great advantages and disadvantages to the use of technology in school. On the one hand we can access information much faster but on the other hand it can be tricky to know if the source is reliable and we can easily be distracted.

yes! freedom is very much an illusion. Social media is constantly tracking us and many things are limited to say. so it shows the we do not truly have freedom

Yes for sure! But if you look at movies like frozen and Moana you see the female characters are not portrayed the same and they were in the old movies. Moana is a strong and independent ruler same for Elsa, she does not need a man and is ruling her country

Its crazy watching these movies now and seeing all the sexism and racism that flew over our heads as kids. I do think that the newer Disney movies have improved their movies and are now making them without racial slurs or sexism

I was thinking the same! But it is good that people are talking about it today and bringing awareness about it so that future generations will learn what is appropriate to show their kids

I do not disagree but i also do not agree. I understand the showing young kids how to use these tools and get the most out of them but at the same time we cannot start children on a age too young because that can negatively affect their development

Yes! I believe if teachers use it in a positive way and encourage it, much like this class, the results will be much better than if the teacher saw it negatively

Yes! It is actually my main source. I believe Twitter is a great way to access news with the trending page and the constant news articles posted from different accounts

I semi agree with you. I believe it should be monitored in elementary schools but I think as of secondary 3 when students become seniors, the monitoring should be stopped

Same for me. I can definitely see the positive aspects of including technology as well as seeing the negative aspects associated with it

I found #lesson1 interesting since I never tried to choose between sides before: for or against technology in the classroom. I always saw myself as a neutral party, keeping in mind negative aspects and taking advantage of positive ones. #Educ307 #hereforthedebate

Thats wonderful! I believe social media is an amazing tool for learning but I also believe it should not be mandatory due to some people may have a lack of resources such as wifi or computers

I learned English through youtube and other technology platforms. Social media is the reason why I am able to take this class! Therefore, I will ALWAYS agree with the use of technology for learning. #educ307 #lesson2

Me too! Its a wonderful feeling when someone makes you completely forget about your phone or any technology it shows how strong your relationship with some people are

Throughout this whole class #educ307 we talked about human relationships and connections. Personally, when I am hanging out with someone and they make me forget about my phone, I consider we have a strong connection. What do you guys think?

Social media has taken precedence over many people. It consumes us and our time. We become easily distracted and forget why we are using it. I'm for integrating technology & social media into courses, however, I believe some platforms are not suitable for some classes. #Lesson2

Youtube's probably one of my top social network that I use for school. If I don't understand something, I redirect myself there and listen/watch videos for further clarification. Sometimes you understand better by the way someone else explains something than the teacher. #Lesson2

Exactly! I personally learn better through videos but I do know it is important to provide all forms of learning to reach every type of student

I do believe incorporating both passive and active learning in a classroom is important because your brain processes information differently when writing down information vs hearing it as an audio or in a video #Lesson3

Definitely agree with you on that one. I do find myself holding back criticism when I know my name will be on it. Anonymity would make it a lot easier!

Referring to the slide #dimensionsofconstructivism in lecture 3, I agree that peer assessment is a good tool for constructive criticism. However, I think it should remain anonymous. Some people may not be as honest if we're able to see their name #Lesson3

Totally agree with you on this! This is why I believe its important to not introduce technology to kids too early

McLuhan states as we see more and more people on their devices, there's an inevitable loss of other skills. I agree b/c I work on a computer on a daily basis (40-56h/week) & I find my communication skills have lowered since my work doesn't require interacting with people #Lesson4

Yes! Nowadays it is very difficult to fully restrict students from accessing social media during school

Nowadays even though schools have implemented acceptable use policies (AUPs) to try and decrease inappropriate technology use (ex: banning social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, etc.), kids have phone plans with data so they can still access those platforms. #Lesson4
