Former British bike racing campaign. 2019 Bemsee Minitwin Rookie racer/scarer of faster riders, marshals and spectators. Owner of ATB (At The Back) Racing.
@TeresaC123 We live in a society more concerned with how people look, rather than what they do, where PR is more important than doing the work. Yes it's been a while now but did people think everything would have been sorted before a first term was complete?
@mototingle Even hardened petrolheads may accept change but designs cannot be alien. Despite developments, bikes haven't changed much in 100 years. So long as an alternative doesn't look radically different, it may gain acceptance. I would love a hydrogen bike but perhaps not this one.
@MariaCostello@ttracesofficial Good luck, ladies. While I don't envy you, Maria, I am inordinately jealous of Alice. I included the "passenger" category on my ACU licence but never got the chance to try it. Another ambition yet to be realised.
@BookSpotlight@VivBlakeAuthor I had a shock when visiting a local indie bookshop. Not only did they not sell self-published books, they made it clear that such books were beneath them. I was only looking for a copy of an out-of-print book, one of the things this shop specialised in. I didn't stay long.
It's disappointing that the UK Media chose to make the Oulton tragedy headline news, once again only highlighting the dangerous side of bike racing. Too often, the only publicity our sport gets is bad publicity. It was awful but some balance would also be good. RIP Owen and Shane
@Paul_Denning Did he not say he "had borrocks like jacket potatoes" after the accident? Quite the character and justifiably popular. Seeing him broadside out of Clark as he approached the start/finish line was something else. No one rode like Yukio. Great days.
@matoxley At the risk of trolling, if they were to become a feature in any series, should they not be a WSBK support class, rather than being part of MotoGP? How do they possibly fit into a prototype world championship?
@MariaCostello@EE You are so not alone, Maria. My wife and I have given up using mobiles to talk to each other except via WhatsApp because wherever we are, signal is non-existent. We only stay because we're locked into our BT/EE contract.
What does 2 hours sleep, 2 nights in a row, give? It gives the chance to ask colleagues why there's only you in the weekly Wednesday meeting.
...on Thursday.
My head is swimming, so I don't expect to provide constructive input to any of the meetings I have today.
Every once in a while, an ego-stroking memory pops up on your timeline. Today was one such time, as I'm reminded that people did actually enjoy my work.

Got a message from the widow of a racing friend today, thanking me for his birthday tribute. Got me a bit choked, if I'm honest. Our sport is very exciting but some of us can also pay the highest price.
God rest, Dan.
@denkmit I spent 16 years helping British youngsters boost their profiles. I spoke to lots of organisations, teams and the Media but my inexperience and enthusiasm didn't really help. I also didn't have the financial back up they all needed. Talent alone doesn't get seats but money helps.
@denkmit The higher the level, the more distant the riders, it seems, which is a shame.
I've never got near MotoGP teams but chatted with BSB ones. Best access is at club meetings (my experience is with @BemseeOfficial). Fans, especially kids, are positively encouraged to say hello.
