@SophiaCKaminski How do we create accessibility within the art world? I feel like I am always thinking about this. And the series that you shared is a great example of how to welcome and engage a wider audience within a specific subject matter without overwhelming them. #MSTDSM
@schoimuse@MuseumModernArt People (even employees that work within museums) maintain such personal relationships with art that develop outside of the museum. I enjoyed getting glimpses of this through the shared personal reflections. I believe this type of connection, when captured, is powerful. #MSTDSM
I am not an artist, but I love the painting tutorial videos on the @ngadc Monet's Waterscapes series on YouTube. I keep coming back to them. Something about the setting combined with the active process of painting really intrigues me. #MSTDSM

I am an avid watcher of the "Art History in 10 minutes" series featured on the @NationalGallery YouTube channel. It's breaks down a subject that can be intimidating and makes it accessible. #MSTDSM

One of my favorite series! Really interesting in its overt attempt to capitalize on popular content. Why does it work? It fits perfectly within the setting. Thus, it doesn't feel contrived, but rather more a natural shift within their content. #MSTDSM

Another favorite! More technical than my first example. However, I love how the museum positions us in the role of active contributor/ conservator of history.
An approach that allows for museum learning to extend beyond its institutional walls. #MSTDSM

Sheldon Clarke's - a security officer at the museum - perspective "The Starry Night" is completely refreshing.
This type of content is an effective way to bridge the gap between the in-person v. online museum experience in a unique way that can appeal to everyone.

I love the @MuseumModernArt Uniqlo ArtSpeaks - especially the one linked below! As someone who believes in the transformational power of art, I think it is so important to give space/time to the everyday/ personal stories that make art so amazing. #MSTDSM

A question from @adriennemaree that has sustained me these past couple of weeks:
"Why would you not be interested in living in a miraculous way?"
I have taken it all in. I hear it. I am trying to live it. Thank you ❤️
@SophiaCKaminski I have been grappling with this question, too! For me, the dilemma I seem stuck on is: can a museum use these spaces (to their benefit) without acknowledging a platform's past history of unethical conduct? Should the museum have a duty to explain their decision? #MSTDSM
@Lindsayanne94@SophiaCKaminski I agree! I think that a lot of these platforms shifted to find relevance within the market that set the pace for what is valued/ should be valued. Today, it is the experience economy, which seems to have made way for the advent of influencer culture. #MSTDSM
For museums, social media can be an incredible tool. It gives the museum a new way to connect with new audiences, while also providing a way to tend to/ strengthen existing relationships.
I think it smart for museums to shift into the digital sphere. #MSTDSM
I think working with teens in a "by-teens, for teens" concept is really interesting. I hesitate with this idea only because of the numerous health considerations and concerns surrounding teens growing up in an already hyper-tech/social world. #MSTDSM
They need to truly understand how they see themselves and the work that they forward, so that they can ultimately define their work/place within the the larger online marketing sphere. And this work must be clear and transparent. #MSTDSM
While targeted marketing on social media isn't wrong, it is essential to recognize how easily it can veer into unethical territory. Social media requires great ethical consideration. #MSTDSM
As discussed in our readings, it carries the power to cause harm. I think for museums it is complicated and must be approached with the utmost care. For me, a more ethical approach to advertising requires:
1) the museum to conduct important internal work first. #MSTDSM
